Theyre all just about the same age so they were pretty close apprentices. they did pretty much everything together. though as they got older, Milkfur noticed that Rainfall and Voleflight were getting closer to each other than they were to her.

Milkfur is straight, and she always had a crush on Rainfall. Rainfall is bisexual and Voleflight is gay.

when Voleflight and Rainfall become mates, their relationship is kinda rocky.. they want very different things and both toms are pretty baaad at communicating. Voleflight, despite his very careful facade, is actually quite anxious and sought constant reassurement/validation from Rainfall, whose actual stoic demeanor low-key stressed voleflight out. However, they would also insist they'd be mates for life and settle down to have kits etc etc.

Milkfur very enthusiastically volunteered to be the kits' mother. Cuz.. yknow.. she likes Rainfall. And she misses her friends. She kind of wanted to insert herself into their relationship. A little bit selfish, but i wouldn't call her a bad person. just very desperate for connection with the two friends who have grown distant from her.

Anyways, Rainfall and Voleflight eventually decide to break up, and they're kinda awkward/dont talk with each other. Milkfur hates it because now its even worse and her friend group has fallen apart and she doesnt know what to do. Then Rainfall dies and Voleflight kinda.. has a weird... non romantic rebound thing with Milkfur. Suddenly he's talking to her and spending time with her again. She's glad to reconnect with him, but she also feels a bit like she's a second choice to him. They both just miss Rainfall really badly. He was their best friend, he completed their trio, and now he's gone.

They kinda decide to have kits for the wrong reason, i suppose. they love their kits. But both of them also probably wouldn't have had kits together if Rainfall were still alive. They're kinda trying to fill the void he left behind, i suppose.
