I am intrigued by the breakup post implications. Could we please get more information about Volares if you have any? 🙇♂️
Oh, I'd be happy to hehe
I had the idea of him being vaguely valkyrie-like in terms of appearance (at least in his superhero form). And that he just towers over most people, since secretary birds are the tallest prey of bird in the world.
I would think that even in his civilian form, he is a brunet and hides his more bird-like features for the sake of his secret identity. But that some of those features such as the distinct quill-like plumes that secretary birds have would pop out at certain emotional moments.
There’s also the ordeal of whether or not shoes in this word could accommodate for bird-like feet, but I think he’d learn the skill of quickly taking shoes off or if his transformation magics those away for convenience. Whatever the case.
He is simultaneously a team player and genuinely good at his job, but he can get a bit carried away at times when in the heat of the moment, which can cause a few problems.
I think he'd actually match Robert's willingness to be absolutely brutal during a fight.
And, he has the strong legs because secretary bird, and he will use them to kick and beat you into the ground. A lot of his attacks involve swift kicks and agile movements. That doesn't mean that that's his only move set though.
Might not be the assigned or designated leader of a team, but the one who will be getting stuff done and trying to keep everyone else on track.
Like guys, come on, we gotta be on top of this before it gets even worse, lock the fuck in, have a sense of urgency, LETS GO COME ON
He’s also probably be willing to do more of the dirty sort of hero work for the sake of the greater good. A “do what needs to be done” kind of guy.
The question on whether heroes should kill or not would come up at some point during his relationship with Robert. And that was part of the breaking point for them.
And then, things got more complicated and yet not when his own kid entered the picture (which happened after he had already broken up with Robert).
Such as his sense of urgency to get the job done so he won’t be late to attending a school event or picking his kid up from school.
Got the energy of "I wanna get this done, my son has a school play tonight, and I AM NOT MISSING THAT" the entire time, until he eventually dips out because he can’t just not show up.
His two teammates/bandmates are two of the only people he trusts to watch his son when he's not around. They've got their own little family unit going on.
Should also mention that he is in a band, specifically a rock band, with two other heroes. And they all already know each other's identities, both civilian and superhero.
I do think that he genuinely liked Robert/Mecha Man while they were dating, but that it did kind of end on a bad note (neither of them wants to talk about it). But even he sees him again, in-person, I don't think Volares would be like the toxic ex trying to ruin his life. He's got other priorities, and making Robert feel bad about their past relationship isn't one of them.
Likely they still have some differing opinions on a few things, so would be a sort of neutral but somewhat amicable dynamic at best but it can easily go to them being at odds with each other.
He does love to ruffle other people's feathers though (no pun intended), so if his presence makes someone else (Flambae) jealous. Well, he's not looking to get back with Robert anyway, so they have no real reason to be worried. Their reactions are hilarious though.
anyways. funny bird fellow.
