━━━━━━━━ ◦ ◦ there were so many things going through his mind at the feast that it was hard for him to enjoy it. it was supposed to be a time of merriment, and a great honour considering that he and the rest of his team were in the presence of not only their crown prince, but the king. it was a rare chance for a group of young men like them. jinil takes the honour in stride, but it feels more like a weight on his shoulders. ( it’s not like he did much to help in the long run. it’s not like he feels he earned his place at this table. )
it wasn’t the only thing on his mind, either. in just a few days time, he was to be wed to the princess his heart allowed him to grow fond of - but that sentiment was never to be returned. it’s hard for him to accept a wedding to a girl who begged him in the middle of the night to break the engagement, no matter how powerless he was to do so. it hurts.
maybe the thoughts showed on his face. maybe that’s why jin approached him near the end of the feast and asked him to join him in his quarters for a quiet drink alone as friends.
jinil had no reason to deny him, but he couldn’t help but be apprehensive. more than anything, right now, he didn’t want to alarm or offend one of the best friends he’s had since his childhood. he couldn’t afford to irritate him before the wedding. not when he’d need him.
apprehension is in his eyes as he finally sits cross legged in front of jin, head lowering in respect as expected of him to do. “ your highness ..” he lifts his head, a small smile on his lips. “ for what do i deserve the honour of drinking with you this late at night?”
