VOIDSOUND Weekly Bass Music Launching October 14th
When Void started in early 2007, there we a few key factors that all came together at the right time to make the night what it was. Dubstep was fast approaching its golden era, we had a grimey basement venue that had no sound restrictions, a venue boss that was not going to interfere with anything we did and we had a sound system that was perfect for hearing the music the way that it needed to be heard.
In over 4 years you would expect some of that to change. Dubstep had passed its golden era and moved into commercial mediocrity, our attention had shifted to non specific “Bass Music”, our venue now had sound restrictions and the venue boss that could no longer support what we did as a result. The dynamic had surely changed and since then it’s been a frustrating ride, chopping and changing venues and continuing to push serious underground beats when the norm and expectation from others was to give the kids what they want.
In exciting recent developments, the same elements that had helped Void grow back then are aligning once again. Our captivation in the new wave of Bass music has motivated us to push these sounds to new (and old) audiences. We have found a new basement venue with no sound restrictions, a venue boss who has given us full control of the space and our sound system has grown and is sounding better than ever .
All this is just too hard to ignore.Â
Void is back in a big way starting Friday October 14th and weekly on Fridays thereafter. A night of non- specific Bass Music, be it Dubstep, Drum and Bass, Techno or whatever, we will let the Dj’s decide and we are not going to tell you who they are as it shouldn’t matter. Don’t expect any overhyped or overpriced internationals, no big name Djs, no superficial lighting shows or gimmicks, just straight up underground beats from Dj’s who know their stuff on what is arguably Sydneys best sound system for bass heavy music – Hijack Sound. $10 entry each week with $5 beers and house spirits all night.
This is the best news I've heard all week - brace yourselves Sydney, cos things are gonna get heavy.
