The joke is based on the fact that Godzilla Earth is not a mutated dinosaur/unknown reptile, but in fact a plant that has copied all the best thanks to special devices. Of course, this does not make it literally a tree, but I found it funny.
In my AU, I rather imagine Godzilla and Mothra as teenagers (although Mothra is obviously older than Godzilla, considering that she was on Earth before he appeared), largely because compared to his other versions, Earth Godzilla is young. Ghidorah the Void, on the other hand, has lived for many years. Mostly, though, hanging out in the void and only occasionally coming out to absorb another planet and the Godzilla on it (yes, if you didn't know, Godzilla in anime is not an isolated phenomenon for Earth, when civilization reaches a certain stage of development, Godzilla appears on the planet and destroys it, and then Ghidorah comes and absorbs Godzilla along with the planet). So I think he could act either like an adult and relatively calm character or like a grandfather constantly yelling about the noise coming from other kaiju.
