Born and raised in Lagos Nigeria, Celeste grew up in a family where the taste in music genre was diverse. She listened from high life sounds to jazz, rock, and soul. As well, there were the constant "tales by moonlight" and the traditional/folk-like call and response music that happened consistently throughout her childhood. This subsequently, influenced her perspective towards musical sounds and genres. Celeste is an independent artist whose genre of music can be regarded as alternative/ indie-folk. Her sound, accompanied by her guitar can be described as surreal and transcendental. She plays the acoustic and lead guitars as well as percussion instruments. She enjoys making music in the genres of soul, alternative rock, folk and country music with splashes of African sounds. Born and raised in Benin to a family of seven, Cill as she is popularly known uses her music as a tool for social engineering, advocacy and promotion of patriotism. Her single "Sound the Alarm", released in 2013 was inspired by her experiences while volunteering with an NGO monitoring elections in Nigeria at the time. "Sound the Alarm" still resounds in many hearts as a wakeup call to rise and build our great nation again. She believes in spreading quality music like wild fire knowing that someday good music will eventually chase bad music out of the industry.
