a haunting melody hummed from just beyond eyesight, down an alleyway obscured by the low light and mist. why did the song sound so familiar? it scratched at some sense just beyond her periphery- a thought that was just out of reach, begging to bury itself into her memory.

an elderly spirit that victoria worked with when they first passed was lingering at the end of the walk, the tune on their lips and a deep confusion etched into the lines around their eyes. victoria offered her a hand.
