This video really embodies a lot of visual rhetoric with the idea that sex sells. Lammily is now selling a "real life" version of Barbie that comes with optional imperfections that people can stick on at will. Stitches, stretch marks, and even acne are included, and their studies show that the idea really relates to children. The audience for this is obviously girls who, like most of us, aren't perfect, and looking back at a doll that more closely relates to them makes for a great selling point. Feminism may not be very "sexy", but the core values it promotes rings true with girls of all ages.

[This Afternoon]
This music video performed by Nickelback works for me for a variety of reasons. It was a hit song while I was in high school and while it focused more on college life it still reflected some aspects of high school life to which I could relate to.
Being a teenage boy, obviously hot women, beer, music, and a pool party are going to be attractive qualities. Those were the components that were most effective to me, while the video didn't really have any ineffective parts in my opinion. I most definitely feel I was and still am apart of the targeted audience.From the components I listed above, you can definitely place the targeted audience as being male and from the ages 16-24.
I feel this really hits home for a lot of teenage males because this video is what most would consider a "perfect day", as it did for me once upon a time. So I believe the function of this video was to associate a good song with things that a huge chunk of the population would find appealing.Â
By using meta-discourse, I feel we can see this as more than just a feel good song accompanied with a funny and entertaining video. You notice that Nickelback isn't just connecting with their audience through song, but also through the use of visual images. By doing this in such a creative way, it proves to be a very effective tandem.Â
Here are all of the software/mediums that I use on a frequent basis:
Google Chrome: I use this a lot to get on UT's canvas page and look at homework assignments. As you can see, I'm reading for visual rhetoric.
Notepad: I usually use this to take smaller notes on readings or lectures, just to write basic text.
Virtual DJ: I try to mix audio sometimes and when I do I use Virtual DJ, a mixing software.
Photoshop: Sometimes when I record something on Virtual  DJ I make visuals or cover art to accompany the audio. Photoshop is useful in making this happen, even though I am not too used to it.
Skype: When I have spare time I like to chat online with family and friends. I use Skype because it's free, not really because of a preference.
Microsoft Word: When I'm writing up an essay or working on an assignment I usually do it on Microsoft Word.
iTunes: This is where I listen to a lot, a lot, a lot, of music and also buy tunes sometimes.
I can't really think of any other mediums that I use as frequent as these, but that's probably a good thing because I would probably make my computer crash if I had a bunch of programs to screenshot. Oh, well.
