Matching Uniforms
Recently, I've been involved in discussions about giving many products in our company the same look and feel, even though the products have very different audiences and purposes.
The following metaphor came to mind:
We have people playing rugby, basketball, baseball, and football and we're trying to give them all matching uniforms.
A basketball jersey wouldn't work well in a football game, and a rugby player would have trouble competing in a basebal uniform.
I think the metaphor also illustrates that there is a competitive sport taking place, and instead of improving our game we are concerned about the uniforms.
