What I learn in School….

As a lot of you may know about me, i have gone back to school. This is my third semester in online classes at Rio Salado College. I began my pursuit to obtain a Bachelor of Arts and Education but with the current state of affairs in Arizona for Education and art programs getting cut. I find the desire to actually want to use what i learn and not just get to say I have a degree.  So this spring…

First of all I'd like to start by describing the basic functions that we made in the Tic Tac Toe game.

(When I say "we" I'm referring to the students in class, and myself. Even though everyone has made his own project)

The basic functions of the "game" is to click on blank spaces which get assigned an X or an O (in different colors). The starting player (whether X or O starts) is assigned randomly on load, and there's a text showing who's turn, (ex; Player turn: X). There are also texts that show the number of wins per player, and the total number of games played. A "new game" button, and a button for "end game". Each button has a confirmation box with Yes and No.

To begin my Visual Basics Final Project I started working on a custom control for the entire drawing grid. The most important part of the drawing grid was the grid itself. I decided that the user should be able to decide how many grid dots should be place on the grid itself. The grid should also be resizable.

The following code snippet is my rough draft of .drawGrid function:

The .drawGrid function accepts the desired width _w, height _h, number of horizontal grid dots _hNodes, and number of vertical grid dots _vNodes. The function utilizes a single group of nested loops to populate the grid with these nodes. The results of my .drawGrid function is shown below:

This is just Version 1 of my .drawGrid function but already I see a hanful of problems and know that it needs some more functionality. Just for quick reference here is the short list:

Grid dots need to reach the left and right side as well as the top and bottom function.

I want grid dots to represent data objects, I just haven't developed them yet!
