Mountain Day 2020!
Today at 7:07 a.m. we received an email from President McCartney announcing that today, September 23rd, is Mountain Day! Mountain Day is a surprise day in the fall where classes are cancelled and we are encouraged to enjoy the outdoors and celebrate fall. In a normal year this usually means hiking or apple picking. You can read about my first Mountain Day here. Mountain Day isn’t exactly the same in a remote year, but it is still a beloved tradition. Last month, we received our Mountain Day T-shirts along with a Smith College face mask.
For my Mountain Day, I spent the morning just relaxing. At noon, I attended a house “breakfast”. We chatted and worked on a virtual puzzle. You can create your own virtual puzzle here. This year, lots of Smithies were in the kitchen baking delicious looking baked goods.
In the afternoon, my dad, dog, and I hiked Mount Elmore. It was definitely nice to take a break from technology and spend some quality time in nature with family. Here are some photos from the hike.
