Skyrim By Democracy: Viriya Likes to Fish and is Also a Total Dish, Pretty Much Exactly My Type Except for the Drab Fashion Sense and Overuse of Note-Based Quests, Am I Boring You?
Wrathberry's inimitable and sometimes inconsistent whims were telling her to join the Riften Fishery, so she clomped back up the wooden jetty to talk to one of its members.
Viriya was a seasoned fisherwoman. However, being from a cheaply-made Creation Club quest which had been added to Skyrim for free, she didn't have any unique lines. JaySerpa had tried reusing existing dialogue more creatively to give her some personality, but she was still mainly reliant on handing people notes.
Such as Wrathberry, who upon meeting Viriya, was handed a note.
"What's this? Mudcrab bounty...?" she mumbled, unfolding the paper. It looked like she could find one in the valley west of Whiterun.
"All right, sister, I'll get you that crab!" Wrathberry decided. "Right after I've met the other guy."
Inside the Fishery, Wrathberry found Swims-in-Deep-Water. Like many Argonians, he was well acquainted with water and its inhabitants, and stood out as an expert on fish ecology. For a beginner, he recommended catching four types of fish: a carp, a glassfish, a goldfish and a pogfish.
"Pogfish?!" Wrathberry burst out laughing. "Dude! There's- you've got- like there's a type of fish, and it's, and you, it's called a pogfish?!"
"Kiss my tail," said Swims-in-Deep-Water.
Finding a juvenile mudcrab seemed easy enough. Wrathberry took Lydia to the greater Whiterun area, and out onto the tundra they went, towards the pool where mudcrabs hung out.
A fugitive ran up to Wrathberry and shoved a suit of enchanted Elvish armour into her arms. "If you double-cross me, I'll bloody well do one!" he added, sprinting off into the twilight.
"Um," said Wrathberry. "Major restoration or twenty more carry weight? I'm totally keeping it."
Soon, our heroines found the mudcrab pool. In the shadow of a giant mudcrab, long since past, a little juvenile mudcrab sat pretty among the damp pebbles. Wrathberry stuffed her in her cleanest pocket, under some bowls of stew and a merchant's hat.
"Have you seen the enchanted Elvish armour I was going to sell to pay for my wedding?" asked the hunter who'd just shown up looking for crab meat.
"Um, no, sorry," said Wrathberry. "You can totally just go to the registrar's office, though. Have fun! Good luck! Lydia, why are you giving me that look?"
The next morning saw our heroines back in Riften. Wrathberry passed the juvenile mudcrab to Viriya, who was delighted.
"Isn't she something? I think I'm going to call her Snippy," Viriya decided. "Don't try and tell me Snippy isn't cute."
"She is! Just look at those little pincers and those big, yellow eyestalks," cooed Wrathberry. "I was totally sleeping on how adorable arthropods can be! Yo, maybe I should tame a chaurus...!"
"That's sure to end well," said Lydia.
Viriya cleared her throat. "If you'd like to try some actual fishing, we've had an order from Falkreath for a glassfish," she declared. "I don't know how busy Swims has you, but I think you can find one."
Wrathberry smiled. "I'll have to, like, comb my to-do list, but maybe!"
It had been a fun couple of days. Swims-in-Deep-Water's fishing challenge did look interesting, but there was never only ONE option, was there?
What should Wrathberry do next?
