The Roush built 8.0L V-10 engine being installed in the 2014 SRT Viper GTS-R though ‘balance of performance’ regulations limited power output to only 480-490HP in order to be considered competitive in class.

Anodized aluminum intake trumpets on this SRT Viper GTS-R act in the same manner as NASCAR restrictor plates in that their intention is to constrain airflow to the V-10 engine cutting the amount of horsepower produced to around 480-490HP. Occasionally coupled with other constraints such as additional weight & reduced fuel capacity, these restrictions allow many different cars having varying levels of performance to race on the same track with a relative expectation that all will be competitive with other vehicles in the same class.
