Del Tenny has written, produced and even directed some of my favorite horror films from the 60's. My 3 favs are Night of the living corpse, The Horror of Party Beach and especially this little gem, VIOLENT MIDNIGHT (1963). ---------------- I remember watching it on TCM one night and instantly fell in love. This movie is the perfect marriage of exploitation and horror thrillers. Also one that paved the way for the stalk and slasher films we love from the late 70's and early 80's. ----------------- It's known as a heighted Psycho, even with some scenes playing homage to the classic. Violent midnight became a template for such films as THE PROWLER, FRIDAY THE 13TH and HALLOWEEN, including the Italian Giallo genre that all have certain elements taken from this film. ------------ It has the perfect combo for me.....psycho killers on the loose, some rumbles in a bar and a bevy of hot beauty's thrown in the mix.
