In this YouTube video, the cheerful and friendly Geek Bomb host Maude Garrett interviews talented author Brent Weeks in a past livestream. Other nice fans and interesting Geek Bomb staff such as Shona (who does cosplay) are also present.
In the interview, Brent talks about writing characters that are morally grey, antagonists with good traits, good characters who are deeply flawed, convincing redemption arcs, writing characters with traumatic pasts, and gritty stories with a ray of hope.
He also talks about how Kylar, the protagonist of Way of Shadows, idealises the love interest Elene and about other favourite characters such as Mama K.
