Semnani (ISO 639-3: smy), also spelled Simnani, is a vigorous language spoken in Semnan province, Iran by about 60,000 people (as of 2007) - most of whom are Muslim - of all ages. There are generally positive attitudes toward the language's use. It belongs to the Semnani (Northwestern Iranian) subgroup of the Indo-European language family. Speakers of Semnani also use Iranian Persian, in which 93% of the population is literate. Some linguist's believe that Biyabunaki is a dialect of Semnani. A dictionary has been produced for Semnani.
