they both put off introducing john to adrian's mom formally as his boyfriend for as long as possible because adrian doesn't even care for her to know and john's too anxious to tell her when he's closer in age to her than her son.

adrian's mom doesn't care and is mostly excited adrian's in a relationship and she gets to meet the person at all. she's glad he's out of the house more.

they're not overwhelmingly physically affectionate as adrian's not huge into soft touching and honestly, neither is john. but they do make exceptions for forehead and cheek kisses. john also lets adrian mess with his hair from time to time.

disclaimer, i like reading both adrian and john as somewhere on the asexual spectrum. bc I'm aspec and it's more fun that way and i love the nuance of asexuality. that being SAID.

the appeal in sex for both john and adrian is in seeing the way the other responds in kind of in like a science experiment kind of way.

it's based in curiosity and discovery.

sex is not a common occurrence with them but when it does happen, it always ends up being very intimacy forward due to the infrequent nature of it.

john likes to take on a subtly dominant role because he's unused to being in charge or in control of things and it's a novel experience.
