Time was slipping away like thin sand, followed by the uncertainty of the future. Not knowing what their true path was –Noel was living between his past and the presence. Yet his past had only determined who he was; not who he would be. And only for one he wanted to do the right thing – protect and love someone who was important to him no matter of the future. It was then when his lips touched Serah’s; forgetting about his worries and just living in this short second between all the times.
There were many things that Serah took to be irrefutable in her world, like the way the sun would rise and always come from the same direction, or that waves would hit and lap away at rocks lining the shore. Stars would shine and they would go out just the same as how her eyes would continue to glow until their flame caused her life to flicker out.
Those things were all true and they all shared another trait together - she could not change them or stop them, just like Serah couldn't stop the hitch in her breath when Noel kissed her.
Her fingers twitched, an instinctual movement that she halted, hesitating for a heartbeat, two, before reaching out, longing to touch him and feel warmth, reality, even if only for a moment. Her fingers brushed his hand and she locked a finger around one of his, eyes fluttering to a close as she thought this is real.
