Jack Winstanley at MMFA:
As they struggle to find attacks that will stick, right-wing media figures have revived unfounded claims that Vice President Kamala Harris has a drinking problem and has been intoxicated during public appearances. Some social media users have even circulated a slowed-down video to make it seem like Harris was slurring her words and a cobbled-together montage of rally excerpts that they used to ask if she was drunk, earning over 2 million views.Â
Right-wing media figures have been trying to make their smears and attacks stick against Harris. From falsely claiming Harris lied about being a gun owner and repeatedly suggesting she and her running mate are communists to fixating on Harrisâ laugh and lobbing misogynistic claims that she âslept her way to the top,â right-wing media figures have repeatedly lobbed baseless and sexist attacks at Harris. Right-wing media outlets and influencers have trafficked in manipulated video and audio of Kamala Harris to push the false narrative that she is intoxicated.
Microsoft launches anti-disinformation tool âVideo Authenticatorâ
- By Nuadox Crew -
Earlier this month, Microsoft announced in a blog post the launch of a new tool to combat disinformation called âVideo Authenticatorâ. As the name suggests, the software focuses on video deep fakes (it can also be applied to still photos).
Lawmakers are starting to scrutinize manipulated videos.
Stanford âteam of researchers has developed new technology allowing editors to alter the words of anyone who appears on video in an image from the shoulders up, making doing so as easy as typing changes into a word processing program.âÂ

Trump on Thursday evening tweeted a Fox Business video that selectively spliced together clips of Pelosi so she looked like she was stuttering.
Rebecca Morin at USA Today:Â
Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on Friday accused President Donald Trump of spreading "sexist trash" after he tweeted an edited video of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi that made it seem like she was stuttering.
Clinton, who was the 2016 Democratic nominee, said Trump and "his cronies" are "running around spreading a doctored video of Nancy Pelosi" during remarks at the Harris County Democratic Party's annual JRR luncheon in Houston, Texas.
"Now it is sexist trash," she said, which was met with cheers and applause. "But it is also a sign that Trump is running scared.
"So if you believe in the rule of law and the responsibility that we all have to hold our leaders accountable. Then we cannot relent on this front either," she said.
Trump on Thursday evening tweeted a Fox Business video that selectively spliced together clips of Pelosi so she looked like she was stuttering. The video also had commentary from Fox Business political analyst Ed Rollins, who accused Pelosi of becoming "worn down."
The video that the president shared came hours after a doctored video of Pelosi began spreading across social media that was edited to make her seem drunk.
Clinton was the victim of fake videos during the 2016 election, which were designed to make her seem sick while campaigning.
Hillary Clinton is 100% right on the doctored video of Speaker Nancy Pelosi that was edited to make her look drunk is not only deceitful, but it's sexist trash.

This is my first ever video manipulation using After Effects. I used footage from Heizeâs video Jenga as well as some of my scrap video and GIF content to make this possible. I had fun making this, but it was still a pain nonetheless due to all of the render time and crashing.Â
