I like how much the fandom overall cares about the story’s characters. But I don’t like how hateful people can be. This obviously doesn’t apply to everyone, but I couldn’t even browse the L/iS tags after each episode when they were originally released because of all the hate and fighting between ships and people’s opinions on characters and whatever else. The amount of bi-erasure that I’ve seen really bothers me, and I’m usually the type to keep quiet about that sort of thing. I hate the amount of hate Warren gets. Warren isn’t anywhere near my favorite character but a chunk of the fandom has downright demonized him, and I’ve seen an unbelievable amount of people say he “only exists so homophobic white boys have a way to make Max straight” (see above mentioned bi-erasure), among other things. I also don’t like the way the fandom used to demonize people for liking Jefferson… because we’re not allowed to find villains interesting, I guess.

A lot of these comments seemed to have died down but with the release of that new fan-made game (visual novel?), I’m seeing them again. Browsed the tag the other day to see a comment about how the fanmade game was better than L/iS itself because “it had no male characters” and “lmao @ all the straight people mad that there’s no het options” and etc. This sort of behavior really rubs me the wrong way, no matter what the fandom or who’s saying it, and it’s enough to make me avoid tags and fandoms entirely.

There’s a lot of great people in this fandom but unfortunately the bad vocal minority (at least I hope it’s a minority) really just… kills my overall opinion. L/iS is the thing I love but am embarrassed to say so because I don’t want to be associated with much of the fandom.
