I guess something happened to Byzantium

difficult question tbh, hoi4 is close as a result of the VAST modding community and potential for modding that even a smooth brain like I can force out a mod, and just the brain rot that ensures after exactly 7,169 hours and counting of staring at HOI4 maps but i think i like Vic2 more as a game on it's own even if i've played much less of it. Still learning EU4 and CK3 but i wanna learn those two well enough to do a good mega-campaign as a Mozarab Iberia!

As a further aside, I saw one simulation's global economy completely trashed because Bengal declared independence, produced a ton of cash crops, but had no food farms. Its population was filthy rich but had nothing they could buy. Within a decade, 90% of the game's money was in the bank accounts of Bengalese farmers, and factories worldwide were going bankrupt.
