Getting Ready With Vanity Planet
So earlier this month, the team at Vanity Planet approached me about trying out two of their products and to join their brand influencer program. Iāve featured this beauty brandĀ before so Iām familiar and have a good opinion of them in general. And since they both arrived yesterday, I decided to take some time today to do a few beauty reviews. In todayās post, Iām focusing on the Vibe Vibrating Flat Iron and the Blend Party set of oval brushes.
Vibe Vibrating Flat Iron
This flatiron promises to make straightening and bumping your hair easier than ever because the plates actually vibrate. It features tourmaline coated ceramic plates that vibrate when the flatiron is closed. The concept is that the vibrating plates will keep it from snagging on hair. The Vibe reaches temperatures of just over 400 degrees and self-regulates. This flatiron is promoted as ideal for people with curly, coarse or thick hair. Iām not going to lie, I was a tad skeptical. And thatās mainly because as someone with coarse, thick, kinky-curly hair, I am really particular about the products and styling tools I use. But since Iām currently wearing my hair straight, I was down to try out the flatiron.Ā
What I Like
I was pleasantly surprised that this flatiron worked as well as it did. While I didnāt really hit my roots with it (I have an edge stick that I use to get in there to straighten my edges), I focused on whether or not I could use the Vibe to create curls and it did just that. I was concerned at first that the plates were too wide as theyāre probably about an inch and a half wide, and I tend to use a one-inch plate width if I want to curl my hair with a flatiron. But the Vibe not only created curls but left me with a great sheen to my hairāeven though the only product in my hair is my IC Fantasia heat protectant.Ā
What Could Be Better
My only complaint is the fact that you canāt control the heat. Thereās only an on/off switch on the Vibe. Normally, I donāt go over 380 degrees when Iām flatironing my actual hairāeven when Iām straightening it. The only time I have was when I was attempting a silk press because you have to go up to 450 degrees. While I liked the results I got with the Vibe, I was very careful not to do more than one pass to avoid the risk of heat damage.Ā
Blend Party Oval Brush Set
Unless youāve been living under a rock, if youāre even mildly interested in whatās happening in the makeup brush world, you know that oval brushes have been a big trend for years now. So, I donāt need to go into the deep details of why oval brushes are so popular. Vanity Planetās Blend Party oval brush set features 10 brushes ranging in size that can be used to apply a full face of makeup. Most importantly, theyāre synthetic brushesāand that means this is a cruelty-free product and that the fibers arenāt drinking up product the way natural bristle brushes can do. That translates to you notĀ wasting product.Ā
In todayās look, I used the largest brush #6 (counting from left to right in the pic above) to blend out my foundation, #4 and 8 to blend out my color corrector and concealer, and #2 and 9 to place my contour (I used my regular Morphe brushes to blend the contour).Ā I donāt use oval brushes for applying powder-based makeup or liner. I just donāt feel like oval brushes give me the control that I would get from a traditional brush or liner pencil/pen.
What I Love
If youāve ever used an oval brush, this brush set is pretty awesome and on par with. It delivers on its promise and features flexible handles that allow you to effectively blend out whatever product youāre using to apply. I like to blend out skin cosmetics (foundation and concealer) by dampening my brushes so that it creates a more airbrushed effect. These brushes handled perfectly, didnāt soak up product and had a nice weight and hand-feel.Ā
What Could Be Better
Nothing. I thought these worked very well and I would definitely recommend them to anyone who asked.Ā
Final Verdict
I think both the Vibe flatiron and Blend Party oval brush set are great options. However, if you have fine hair and canāt use a high heat on your hair (regardless of texture), the Vibe flatiron could pose a risk of heat damage because you canāt adjust the temperature.Ā
