So I low key hardcore ship these two. It’s implied that Book!Violet has feelings for Quigley, but Lemony gives Violet privacy in that moment in TSS and what if that interaction went more like this:

V: So, I’m sorry if I’ve been...awkwardly staring at you at all. I don’t mean to make you uncomfortable it’s just-

Q: - I look a lot like my sister? Yeah I get that a lot.

V: Yes! How did you..?

Q: I saw you the other night. You took those tiny scrolls out of your pocket and re-read them over and over. I could tell just by how you held them. And I’d know my sister’s handwriting anywhere.

V: They...they’re the last thing I have of hers. She wrote them while she and Duncan were trapped in the water fountain, to help us learn where she was. She’s so clever...I should have figured it out. The code. Sooner. I just...I feel like...

Q: you didn’t fail her Violet. She knows you’re looking for her. She knows.

V: ......do you think? If I wrote something? You could find a way?

Q: I can do my best. I’ve been researching the maps of air currents in the area around VFD. I think I could figure out where the wind took them...

V: I wrote her a poem. It’s not good, but I tried and I just. I miss her so much Quigley. She’s the only one who...well she really understood. What it feels like to...to...well just just knew how to say the things, how to express what it feels like to...

Q: lose family? I know. I miss her too.

Quigley touches her shoulder, and she turns to hugs him. They stay like that for a while, two souls bereft - a word which here means “missing a piece of themselves, and missing the same person, although for very different reasons”. Violet takes a crumpled piece of Klaus’ commonplace book out of her pocket on which she’d scribbled something.

V: here. It’s not much, you can read it if you want. Tell me if it’s bad I’m...not much of a poet. But my skills as an inventor don’t seem to be of much use in this circumstance.

Quigley glances down at the paper. In hasty, but determined handwriting is written the following sequence of couplets:

I feel as though you’re worlds away

Since you drifted off that day

It’s like I’ve drifted off to sleep

Except at night I only weep.

You made my dormant feelings stir

I wish that I knew where you were

And nothing can this heartache quell

Except your soft, poetic spell.

My world is quiet without you

I hope you’re safe. I miss you.

Quigley tucks the paper into his pocket and looks at Violet.
