just rewatched Jupiter Ascending and sorry not sorry that movie holds up actually. "technically speaking I'm an alien. and from the perspective of immigration, an illegal one" "luckily for you a woman owns this car /slaps a pad from the glove compartment on a bleeding wound/", harvesting eggs vs harvesting people for live-forever juice as a metaphor for capitalist exploitation, "the human beings on your planet are merely a resource waiting to be converted into capital." the aesthetic, the fashion, the CGI, the "I love dogs, I've always loved dogs." sean bean is there. literally this movie could not go harder.

it bothers me that you often don't really hear about people having a "favorite album" the way they might have a favorite movie or favorite video game

I do love calling narrative beats unearned. Like I do not call things unearned unless it's uh. earned. but it's really the harshest criticism I have. Yeah this happened in canon, but the story failed to convince me it wasn't self-indulgent nonsense; hacky pandering; or a panic move because no one figured out how to get from point A to point B and just kind of pretended the work had been done but it hadn't. It feels like you're trying to gaslight me but crucially you're so so bad at it. I have judged you and your bad story Unworthy.

I cannot believe that this is a website where you can ask “hey i think i saw a weird image once” and put a bad stick figure drawing of it and someone will be like “oh yeah that’s the first installment of a 12-part post-ironic apocalypse fever dream photoshop series” and just hand you a dozen of the most unhinged images you’ve ever seen in your life, that still have a better three act structure than most modern cinema
