I was checking the stuff on my tablet to free some space and I found this :)
This was Vesper's first color palette, I changed it mostly because I thought it made her ears look like butterfly's instead of moth's haha
There are also few little differences too, you can try to spot them.
I'm putting here the final design too for comparison, I kept some of the previous burgundy shades on her hands and face.
I also have to admit that it makes me sick to draw all those tiny "hairs" on her tail, that's why in the latest pieces they're thicker and fewer, the bad thing is that it makes it look less like a moth antenna. I've still been trying to make her tail a little thicker purposefully since I think that makes more sense as she uses it as a limb.

Okay I'm terrible at guess heights or anything related with numbers xd so I made this to visualise, I tried to get the canon characters heights the most accurate possible.
I just knew I've always imagined Vesper a little shorter than Vaggie, so that's what I did, I didn't expected that she would look so tiny with the rest 🤣
Vesper with the World in Depth: Psychic Bleed, Potions, Weapons ⚔️
On an earlier post "Vesper's Interaction with the World: Abilities, Conditions, Interests & Combat" I talked about various topics and kept some mostly on the surface to detail them later: Psychic Bleed, potions, and weapons.
(Weapons picture at the end if you're curious)
Psychic Bleed is a condition that I created based on her whole character features. As I've said on the previous post, it consists of the leakage of internal feelings, senses, etc, due to overload and intensity. So far there are three types of this condition, catastrophic, hypoactive, euphoric:
-Environment: Ambience around feels wrong and uncomfortable, light flickering, walls and glass cracking, weird sensory stimuli around.
-Effect on others: People close to her feel what she's suffering emotionally and sensory. High-frequency feedback leaks from her and becomes unbearable to be near. Occasionally, people may feel not only her distress but also what she feels for them personally.
-Termination: Burnout, energy expenditure exceeds capacity. Collapsing and disorientation. High chance of fainting.
-Notes: Most common type due to its nature, most dangerous and harmful to others and to herself as well.
-Physical signs (possible): Slow movements and reactions, irregular breathing, cold extremities, blank stare, delayed responses, abnormally greyish, time perception slows.
-Environment: Dust smell, fine mold forming in corners or surfaces, colors desaturating, sounds dampening, echo effect, stagnant ambience.
-Effect on others: Nearby individuals feel drained, slowed, melancholic. People feel uncomfortable staying near.
-Termination: External breach, sufficient stimulus penetrates numbness threshold, something has to reach her. Temperature shock, emotional confrontation, sensory contrast, sudden physical contact. Could end up trembling and exhausted.
-Notes: This could last longer than CPB. May also generate memory gaps, dissociation, and prolonged exhaustion.
-Physical signs (possible): Increased body temperature, deeper breathing, softer eye focus and increased eye contact, softened voice, dilated pupils.
-Environment: warm light pooling, flowers blooming, soft bioluminescence, air lighter with nice scent.
-Effect on others: May feel comfort and longing. Temporary self-esteem enhancement.
-Termination: Realization or interruption. Recognising the bleed is happening, being emotionally exposed or unsafe, system cannot sustain openness, bond is interrupted. Could feel withdrawal, shame, fatigue, vulnerability.
-Notes: The rarest type. Has many risks as emotional over-bonding, misplaced attachment, vulnerability. Very exploitable variant in Hell.
Vesper also creates various kinds of potions with different effects, these can be either liquid, dust, or airy, textures vary. She had named many of them accordingly.
Broken Wings: Paralyzing. Heavy limbs, slowed movements, delayed reactions, loss of coordination, cramps, muscular tension.
Vesper's weapon types and visuals are based on her character as well. She has three main weapons, fitting for different situations.
Moon Dagger: Close precision. Her most personal weapon and the most used, she always carries it with her hidden in her garter. Used for fight and any daily use. Generally the first option, small, reliable, and practical.
Crescent Scythe: Medium range, wider blade. Middle point weapon. Carries more ceremonial and meaningful use, when she must "harvest" someone. Less used.
Batwing Polearm: Wide range, batwing blades, large-scale combat. She uses it mostly in very important situations, intense battles, or war, as the angelic battle. It provides reach, versatility, precision, and control of space.
There are 15 Vesper chapters already posted on AO3!
You can check the fic here 🖤
Well this is honestly getting a bit to draining 😩 and I know nobody is actually reading them but I want to finish all the polishing thing already.
As I've said before, I already have all these chapters (I think 60+) but I'm polishing them since I just kept them for myself for a while. I'm fixing a lot of tense irregularities, prepositions, and symbols, which probably will still look odd since I've been writing through different devices and keyboards. I'm addicted extra details in between as well. Also english not being my native language doesn't help much 😖. I even fixed some weird stuff directly on AO3 that I didn't see before so I hope it doesn't look too bad 🙏🏻.
I want to finish so I can start writing the new arc I've thought about but this seems so eternal aaaggghh.
Btw, in these later chapters you can see a bit of Vesper's past haunting her, a little cute moments, mild cannibalism, and Vesper realising her feelings and... admitting them?
Anyways, it would be really lovely if you'd like to take a look! 🫶🏻
Some know that I've been thinking about posting Vesper's story. I was trying AO3 since I honestly don't have idea how to use it, and ended up posting aaa. I thought of simply leave it there until I add more, but maybe you'd like to read the first chapter??? The first ones are way shorter than the following ones.
You can check it here! I hope I'm not linking it wrong 😭. I'm honestly testing a lot so there are probably many things wrong! And I've never done this so I feel so awkward aaaaa.
Ah also english is not my first language so I was searching for a lot of synonyms and stuff and the symbols are different from my native language too so I hope it doesn't look too weird!
Yes I was terribly unoriginal with the title, I'm open for recommendations if you have any 😌
Btw I was checking the last part of the list of Alastor's tags and I'm losing it
Moxxie's mother? King Julien? Willy Wonka? WHAT'S GOING ON

In one simple sentence, Vesper is a deeply liminal character.
I have an immense craving for fantasy, and always had, and have this pull to make myself enter to these stories somehow, so Vesper is basically based on me, or simply me, but cooler lol, since I don't see myself so greatly. I've always felt like I'm walking in a limbo of grayness and nothingness, my essence never seems to pick a side, or it picks both at the same time. Emotion and logic, wildness and calmness, empathy and detachment, solitude and longing connection, structure and flow.
Therefore Vesper's personality exists in thresholds, she embodies contradiction in a stable way: emotional but controlled, feral yet composed, kind without naivety, logical without losing abstraction, or abstract without losing logic... She is like twilight, an in-between, grounded, mystical, clear but unknown. She understands darkness, though she doesn't glorify it.
Even her physical appearance has meaning. Besides aesthetics, which are always very important to me, still has depth and a reason, which is extremely important too. She has features of moth and bat, and moon motifs aswell. The very visible mothwing ears, and though is not too obvious, her tail is meant to resemble a moth antenna. Her bat features are a bit less evident but they're quite some, she has batwing design on the tip of her tail, her eyelashes, and the edge of her usual skirt, her hands resemble bat claws and her feet bat paws. Vesper has crescent moon design on her ears and skirt, and many of her belongings aswell.
Now, about the meaning of these. I'm explaining in a symbolic and archetypal way.
🦋Moth: the moth is drawn to light, not out of ignorance, but because of its warmth and soul. Represents the search and pull for meaning even in the dark, feeling things deeply, deep as darkness itself.
She feels change before it happens, and is willing to shed layers of herself to follow inner truth. She moves between comfort and passion, softly, yet with intensity, drawn to the flame of truth or love, even when it burns.
The moth embodies the in-between aswell, not harsh brilliance, not complete darkness, but candle flame, subtle, warm enough. Called by light, but born in shadow. It mirrors (our) sensitivity, solitude, perception, spirituality, dream nature, longing for the unseen, and ability to find beauty and renewal in melancholy.
🦇Bat: the bat navigates the unseen, moving in darkness using inner sensing. It doesn't rely on what's visible, it trusts feeling, sensing, intuition and awareness.
Living in caves links with the unconscious, and hanging upside down makes it see the world from a different point of view, which also links with feeling different or out of place in ordinary reality.
Besides, the bat represents Vesper's highly sensitive senses; perceiving more than others, preferring subtle environments, and risk of overstimulation. Bats also symbolise the threshold between life, death, and transformation.
🌙Moon: the moon is one of the oldest and most powerful symbols in spirituality and witchcraft, it's linked with intuition, emotion, cycles, imagination, dreams, and inner knowledge.
The moon behaves as a mirror of the soul, reflecting, unlike the sun that shines outwardly. It has a receptive energy, listens, absorbs and reflects. It teaches comfort in the unknown, illuminating the shadows softly.
The crescent moon specifically is linked with endings and spiritual renewal, wisdom of closure, introspection, and preparing for rebirth.
Her death on 1999 before the next millennium also represents her liminal in-between nature. She spent her life chasing a peace that she could never catch, a candle flame that seemed to be as far away as the moonlight. Though, there's still a chance to find the flame in Hell, right?
I'm finally sure (I think) of the design and backstory of my Hazbin Hotel Oc Vesper 🥳🦇
It took me way longer than I thought, I'm always needing to put all the meaning and details possible and it took me a lot of thinking and re-designing 😮💨
I'm honestly nervous since I'm not a known artist at all, and I don't even know if people is too interested in ocs, but I really felt like sharing it. I put all my heart on it :) 🖤
I may be posting some backstory in the next days (if anyone is interested, or maybe anyways... or idk)
Vesper human version. She died in 1999 in her 20s, born approximately in 1975.
Her real name was Luzia Bladgen, though I'm not fully sure about this so I could change it in the future. I also can't decide any nationality for her, so I sadly can't play with languages :/
