shy daryl who never initiates contact, and only gazes at you longingly from a safe distance. once you catch him looking, hes quick to turn the other way and work on something like hes been doing it the whole time.

eventually, you make your way over to him. he pretends like he doesnt see you coming, pretends to be surprised as you press up behind him- an arm wrapped around his waist.

shy daryl who saves some of his food and always offers the rest even if he knows youd never take from him. "just take it. 'm not that hungry tonight." and youre smiling so bright at him that his heart starts to hurt.

he settles in besides you, finishing off the rest of his food. his right hand is being used to eat, but his left hand is sitting awkwardly between the two of you. with a gentleness unmatched, your fingers slip in between his and daryl has to sit up a little, cheeks warm and eyes shifting everywhere but to your face. youre trying hard not to laugh.. shy daryl who hesitates at your suggestion to share a bed at the prison. sure, youve shared that tent before at hershels farm, but it was different. things were different. now? now you were boyfriends. his heart flutters at the thought of your warmth enveloping him, the comfort he already feels.

"nah. i mean, youre a big guy. you probably barely fit." he shrugs it off, leaning against the wall. you motion him forward, and hes only slightly ashamed at how easy he follows your hand. "should we find out?"

shy daryl who watches you undress before bed, staring for only a few seconds at a time in case you caught him looking. you always seemed to catch him.

he huffs and puffs as you beckon him into bed, your lying figure already smothered in blankets. he tries his hardest to maintain his tough act, but you see right through it. you pull the covers back to give him space and then he's climbing into bed.

shy daryl who faces the other way the whole night, jaw clenched and body curled into his own. hes practically a rock as your strong arms wrap around him, his tension melting away. his back is square against your chest, face shoved into his pillow.
