Epic E-MTB Rides have their own attraction: Instead of Hiking up the Bike you challenge yourself to ride as much uphill as possible. This is a great training for strength, coordination and overall riding skills - one benefits on the descents as well. Just like yesterday in the Zillertal. We could ride 80% technical uphill, downhill everything anyway. So this classic epic tour gets a new, balanced character - even after 15 years riding it. Amazing. Just stumbled over this image from the Vertriders Archive - September 9th, 2002. A bike that changed everything at Innsbruck's steep Vertride descents. Specialized Big Hit with Marzocchi JR T, Magura Gustav M, SRAM X0, GripShift, Specialized 2.5" x 26" Roller Pro Tire front, Nokian Gazallodi 2.8" (or 3.0"?) x 24" rear, Sun Double Track Rims (24"/26") on Hügi FR Hubs, Syntace VRO Stem/Handlebar. On the wall you can see the longer RaceFace Seatpost I had used on the fireroad ascent and just changed for the shorter one for descent.
