the Sol system is a single-star system at the muddled border of the Unknown Regions & Wild Space; it has 8 major planets, a number of moons, and an asteroid belt the star & planets, in order from the star to the outermost major planet, are called: - Sol - Stilbon - Dilbat - Gaea (1 moon: Selas) - Enyo (2 moons: Raut & Kykon) - Dyeus (3 major moons - Catamia, Panitsa, Euresia - & 18 smaller satellites) - Kroneb (5 major moons - Protero, Ithax, Yati, Tamtu, Diuja - & 27 smaller satellites) - Varsa (2 moons: Danu & Beradal) - Dawon (1 moon: Hydria)

many of the same things as in his canon verse happened in this AU - growing up with his brother Ben in a town called Lodi, his strange encounter with III of the Nine outside another town called Assumption, his military experience, his love of languages, his work post-war with the government, his being pulled forward through time after picking up a rotorless phone, etc

the Force was present in a percentage of Gaea's population, but responses to their abilities shifted throughout the past centuries - anywhere from fear to devotion, or something in between; what few contacts with Jedi likely occurred were written off as strange disappearances or alien abductions

he still wound up on the planetoid Kepler at the fringes of the Sol system after being pulled forward in time by the Nine (still fourth-dimensional beings attached to the largest celestial bodies of the system), and worked with a handful of Force-wielders to investigate a singularity on the planetoid

after becoming the Nine's new Emissary, he also learned that there were spaceports on several planets and moons of the Sol system; eager to learn more and explore further - and encouraged by the Inners of the Nine to search the rest of the galaxy for help & solutions to the dead III's prophecy - he dove headfirst into starship piloting lessons

with a new scout-ship (configured by his new friends for him to pilot alone & fitted with a hyperdrive) that he decided to name the Benito, he set off into the wider galaxy - hoping both to find answers and to learn more about the countless new peoples/cultures/languages out there

he isn't really Force-sensitive, in part due to being more attuned to the 4th-dimensional Nine

Changes: A different timing, a different angle. Subtleties, but enough to kill a young girl. Jayce attended his trial in a daze, though he heard every word. When he wasn't reciting the scope and intent of his unauthorized research, his most often repeated words were correcting every obfuscating reference to the girl who'd been killed - Violet, her name was Violet. He could see her shock of pink hair in the corners of his vision, despite his gaze remaining fixed upon the floor. What he couldn't stand most was that the Council preferred to ignore Violet as a person, that she was only mentioned for her relation to a prominent figure (Vander) in Zaun and how her death would look bad for the Academy and the city. His mother still pled his case (though differently here), and Heimerdinger still determined a punishment besides banishment. He was sentenced to 8 years in a solitary cell in Stillwater, with no possibility of parole.

He accepted without argument, nor did he raise complaint when his equipment was set to be destroyed. He could barely stand to look at his weeping mother, and wasn't even spared a glance by Councilor Kiramman. He got no chance to see Caitlyn again, nor to return to his workshop for any potential clandestine meeting of a like mind. His first night in Stillwater, he proved he could not be trusted with even the basic shaving equipment typically provided to inmates (thanks to House Kiramman's reform efforts). He was thereafter monitored and looked after by a rotation of guards, most of whom were resentful of the extra work. Almost all passing encounters he had with inmates from Zaun involved violence, and he took it all. For the longest time, he didn't even fight back. He occupied his mind with his theories and calculations around the crystal, examining them over and over in his mind - despite, or because, what it'd mean if he only now solved how to stabilize it. While some progress was made, after he was given chalk by a guard who seemed to regard him as an interesting zoo animal, he never quite cracked the problem. Instead, he was left with walls full of words and numbers and lines, and Violet still haunting the corners of his vision, staring and staring and staring.

Over time, he would take turns between obsessing over his rewritten work, and seeming to hide away from it on his cot. When one guard complained to another during shift change about issues with some home repairs, it caught his attention enough for him to croak out a couple suggestions. Word spread among Stillwater's guards after those suggestions worked, and he began to get occasional visitors asking about similar repair and maintenance issues. Jayce welcomed them as reprieves from the numbers and figures swirling in his mind. One day, he was brought out of his cell - not to freedom, there were still years left before that - to fix a recurring pressure issue with the prison's piping. Though he was closely watched and quizzed about every step of the process, he answered every question and the repair was successful. The warden thus decided to 'employ' Jayce as a maintenance man who didn't need to be paid, and he didn't argue. Working with his hands kept his mind out of its worst spirals. He was sometimes escorted through or into communal inmate areas, and there was more than one fight in such cases. This time, he'd at least defend himself, though he remained reluctant to give as much as he got. He even grew trusted enough toward the end of his sentence to maintain the guards' weapons, and the fights petered off as years went on and Zaunite inmates got out the worst of their grieving anger with him. When his release came at last, he was left physically stronger and broader, yet aimless.

He couldn't bear to return home to his mother, or to even set foot in Piltover. Still, he also feels guilty for haunting the alleys of Zaun, especially since the two cities have found some significant measure of cooperation and peace. All he has is the clothing he was arrested in, and a blue-and-red blanket draped over him in the night by an unknown kind soul - now worn as a makeshift cloak. He craves to find something to occupy himself, some new spark, even if he can barely stand to 'burden' most others with his presence. And still, sometimes, he glimpses a flash of pink hair half out of sight, feels that ghostly stare burning the back of his neck...
