Should the Verrazzano Bridge have tolls both ways? There is a new push to go back to the days when drivers paid a toll in both directions. Currently, only drivers entering Staten Island from the Verrazzano pay a toll, which has resulted in cars and trucks detouring through Brooklyn and Manhattan to avoid the toll when making the return trip, clogging streets and elevating noise and pollution levels. New legislation introduced by a group of local elected officials seeks to charge tolls on both sides of the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge. This restructuring of the bridge's toll system would bring $10-$15 million a year to the MTA. #mta #urbanism #statenisland #Verrazzanobridge #Verrazzanonarrows #triborobridgesandtunnels #tbtba #robertmoses #powerbroker #nycroads #nyc #brooklyn #bayridge #sunsetpark #bensonhurst #parkslope #cobblehill #dumbo #brooklynheights #outerrichmond #urbanplanning #civilengineering #nycurbanism (at Staten Island, New York) https://www.instagram.com/p/Bw96fNJH10F/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1ucomrj9l066e
