As she attempted to stir up a response for any of his words, the young Crawley struggled to while trembling at the same time. It was all too much for her to handle. Perhaps it wasn't the right place or time for the news; but the sooner the better... at least that's what Mary had spoken about when Veronique had told her. With her mother out on an afternoon tea; she didn’t dare RUIN the time out.

Her fingers fiddled in front of her, of course she was anxious- who wouldn’t be? But indeed she knew it was her fault; or so she believed. The night in the kitchen was a memory burned in the back of her mind. It was a foolish idea of not retrieving a glass of water without the downstairs help. But couldn’t it have happened to anyone else too? At least they would’ve been more aware than the youngest, naive child of the Crawley’s. It was only easy, wasn’t it? To become the victim because of her age, her purity, her child-like abilities at this age. It made her seem to be the easiest target. Indeed, which Veronique had blamed on herself.

Good things were unexpected, right?

The trip to Las Vegas was unexpected and a surprise too. However, any sort of vacation was something that both her and Linc deserved and desperately needed. Veronique was glad to be away, but knew it would be hard to go back into the lifestyle of living and working every day and at all hours. But it was just as worth it-- even moreso now with Linc by her side. Something which she NEVER expected too. It was like a dream. 

This was the longest relationship that she had been in-- a year and eighteen days. Even she counted in her journal she had. Every minute, every day, little tidbits that just made Linc even cuter and much more of a wonderful partner. She couldn’t imagine her life without her. And if Linc wasn’t even if in the same City let alone Country, she was always try to make time to talk, text or call. And even then, with her know to respectfulness, Veronique was just as  busy and didn’t want to bug her partner with her lovely photography job.

As Linc replied, Ver’s smile continued to grow. And well, add a laugh in there too. “Oui, ma cherie, yer right. It would not be a surprise at t’all. But ya know me, I’m antsy,” and Veronique was. Hiding secrets from her was hard and yet somehow very few got around her with them. 

Her heart was beating for some reason. She was excited that she was getting her making done, but also as to the reason why? She was unsure, but she loved being pampered and Linc knew her quite well, even if it was quite a short time they’ve been together. Yet it felt like an eternity. 

“Is someone we know gettin’ married? Or zis there a party? Or oh--- a banquet? Are you gettin’ an award?” Veronique wouldn’t stop thinking about the possibilities. She straightened her shoulders up a bit, pulling her borrow jacket of Linc’s a little bit closer to her bony waist to keep warm as she waited. Las Vegas was warm in itself, but she was suddenly cold. Veronique ran her thumb against the back of Linc’s as it was apparent. 

Immediately, Veronique quieted down. Her eyebrows furrowed at first, but when Lincoln got down on her knees, her heart began to beat faster and faster, almost as if it was one of those moments that were unexpected. And this certainly was the BEST UNEXPECTED SURPRISE EVER. 

It’s better than the dream proposal or wedding that Veronique had been planning... and she was sure that even then, Linc didn’t need to take a peak at it. 

“Oh my god!” Vero happily laughed and nodded in response. But the tears immediately began to stream down her own cheeks-- her makeup still pristine with a no run mascara on. Just in case. 

Veronique had come in, barely disturbing the other while doing her homework, she knew better. But she was jealous, Delphine was going to a party and she had to stay home in her room. Of course she had already finished her homework by the time she came to ask a gentle question, usually she didn’t bother bugging Delphine with anything but they were sisters. It was only an occassional time that they did things together anymore. As the oldest moved to sit on the bed, she watched for a mere moment before joining her, sitting upon her knees on the floor. 

“Merci.”

They were adults acting like children, but of course it had amused Veronique to her core. What would their mother say? Would she give them a slap on the back of the neck and be forced to separate? It was nonsense, unnecessary bullshit. Yet, their sibling rivalry has not had a chance to come to a end in years. It had been a very proud moment to share with her sister until she watched Delphine’s emotion and demeanor change in a matter of mere seconds, but it didn’t stop her from wanting to flaunt the night to her sister. A little curl of her lips turned into a smirk. The “get out” falling from her sisters lip made her heart beat faster in her chest, making the youngest go shaky. 

“You know it was always my dream to sleep with such a beautiful woman, whether she was dating you or not. But seeing as you’re broken up- it didn’t matter. She wanted me and only me.” 

Words fell from her lips, as she crossed her arms to her chest. It had been the best night, and she would taunt her more with the details if it got to that point to piss Delphine off, but it already seemed to be at the point. But Veronique’s words got more and more intense as she continued speaking the truth.  The girl’s smirk grew larger as she stepped closer to her sister as her head was down, lowering her mouth to her ear to whisper 

Veronique knew all about her sister’s crush- and unfortunately she had the same one for the scientist. She knew loads about Cosima, but did the other even get mentioned, let alone told her name? Guess not. Her compliment was genuine, too genuine if that was even possible. Smiling at the dread-locked haired woman, Veronique had crossed her arms.

“Well merci, ma belle fleur.”

“Peu importe . Vous pouvez l'avoir de retour , ça ne me convient pas en ce moment.”
