10♠️ - How does your muse cope with grief?

Cyril is already a chronic workaholic, but if it is possible for it to get worse when he’s grieving, it absolutely does. The most common tell that there is something weighing heavy on his mind though is the distinct combination of drowning himself in his work / a new project, and forgetting to eat in the meantime.

It’s pretty obvious when this starts happening, because Cyril’s meals are prepared by a small, trusted staff within the galley crew. When they realize he’s not touched the meals they prepare and have sent to him - it prompts and almost immediate oh, something’s wrong reaction. Usually they try to remedy this by cooking one of his favorite foods, it usually works in a few days.

He’ll also potentially start smoking more ( if he’s really heartbroken, odds are he’ll open a pack of his black label cigarettes ), possibly even getting into the habit of having a glass or two of a drink in the evenings as well.

Cyril is also a very tactile and sensual person, and when he’s overwhelmed with emotion that can manifest in a few different ways:

Best case scenario - though as one might imagine, very dependent upon his relationship status at the time - if he has a partner, he’ll be very cuddly and romantic. Eager to simply be in the same room and near his lover ( when not working, that is ), holding their hand, playing with their hair, sleeping with them, making love, etc. These moments are about the most tender and needy you’ll ever see him.

Worst case scenario - he’ll find some flimsy excuse to punish a random slave that’s stepped out of line ( no matter how minor the offense ), venting his grief on them. He’s already sadistic, and already takes pleasure in simply putting people in their place - but when grieving he tends to go overboard in terms of how much he’ll put someone through, even by his own questionable standards. Safe to say when he’s battling his grief, the punishment will far exceed what is appropriate for the ‘crime’.

There have been several handfuls of times where an experienced healer must be called aboard urgently to save someone, or attempt to save them, after Cyril’s beaten them bloody and within an inch of their life just to cope with his overwhelming feelings.

And then finally... Cyril is also in the bad habit of not divulging or sharing what is on his mind with others. He shoulders his grief alone, and there have been many times where he’s mourned something completely life-shattering and the crew - even his first mate - were none the wiser other than “Well, he’s not eating, so something is probably on his mind.”

He usually recovers within a few days or weeks, depending on the event that hurt him.

“You’re still here.” It wasn’t a question, maybe something more of a surprising fact. The only indication that Luana heard her was the slightest twitch of an ear. One sweep of the dravanian’s gaze was enough to tell her just how long the miqo’te had been sitting there. Grooves were dug into the earth beside her, nails having clawed at it from frustration, a heartachingly weathered look was worn on her face, scorch marks left on her boots and a long since burned down village below the cliffs they looked down from.

She was losing control.

Verdandir carefully sat beside the other, unafraid but cautious. They remained that way for a moment longer, content in their shared silence. Man, I have no idea where this one even came from. I used to LOVE roleplaying in medium to huge sized groups, or attending server events and plots. Hell, I used to be an RP officer for several guilds / FCs across multiple MMOs, but it’s just something I can’t handle any more.
