What he said was true. ... But only partway true. He remembered her mentioning something about everyone being her family after he set them all as her brothers for one specific reason:

So there was zero chance for her Mii to fall in love with any of the other guys in the island.

His own Mii was the only one NOT set as her family member. Incidentally, he also manipulated his Mii's dating preferences to only possibly fall in love with hers.

So when their Miis fell in love and got married... He excitedly showed it to her, saying how "fateful" it was that out of everyone in the island, their Miis found love in each other-- just like them in real life.

The disrespect for Maleanor in the plot is insane.

Some humans invaded her country and specifically thrashed the nature in her region and murdered her soldiers. She didn't even antagonize them in return and stuck to defending her castle.

Same humans (allegedly) murdered her husband who only wanted to negotiate peace with them.

Some fuckass invader pig threatened to enslave her unborn son and turn him into a chair.

Murdered her in cold blood because "she was a witch and a monster".

Her castle, the home she built herself, gets STOLEN and the memories overwritten by some colonizers and turned into some cotton candy imitation of her glory.

Nobody in the castle even bothered to tell her own son who she was. It took him too long to realize who amongst the paintings was his mother.

Centuries later, the magestone on her staff, her legacy-- the Princess' Glow which was supposed to embody her radiance, gets turned by humans into an ugly ass trophy for some kiddie Spelldrive game. Instead of being safeguarded as a national treasure. A relic of her sacrifice in defending her country from colonizers.

The kitchen staff puts down a plate for each of them. Except for him. Then when everyone's settled, wondering why he doesn't have food on his side of the table... with more majesty than any one person could flourish, he brings out a packed lunch.

🐉, eternally smug: "Well, let us eat."

He just wants to show off how much his spouse loves him.

So when someone, maybe a bit drunk from all the scrumptious food laid out for them, asks why he's eating food-gone-cold instead of the feast masterfully prepared by his chefs, his only answer is,

🐉: "Perhaps if you took better care of your spouse, you would know the answer to your own question. A pity."

I also considered that being with any of the housewardens would give her enough power, but these guys are assholes so some would definitely try their luck maliciously; specifically to anger said housewarden. Comparatively, the fear of certain death follows Malleus anywhere. His favor would bring complete protection.

Which leads me to a dynamic I find interesting. A practical woman Yuu who targets Malleus for her own gain-- because he is every convenience in one pretty package, and she's very aware of his fondness for her. She plans to dump him the very moment she can get out of this damn school, because being with him forever means she has to become his consort. Too much of a hassle for her.

But after spending time with him... pretending to like him. She does grow to love him. Deeply. So when she finds out just how much of a bleeding heart he is and how he doesn't realize that he's being taken advantage of in his own country, she decides to go for it after all.
