Era of the Wisp

Venti barely remembers these years on purpose, the events that he does want to keep he converts into songs or have carved them into stone using the wind to finely chisel them deep below the earth

If he were to consider his missing years to be apart of his age he would be as old as Zhongli [and the thought of admitting to that makes his heart hurt so he doesn't count the years he spent asleep as a wisp]

and no one can call him out on it because he never made an appearance in a commonly seen form until when he is said to have been born

Angelic Connections

Venti, as an angel, would explain a lot of the reasons why Mondstadt is the way it is and why he would seemingly reject it along that same thought process

Angels aren't related to each other, They're souls that have ascended and shed the corporeal forms they once inhabited. So they could have been a human in their first life… or a mushroom. Most angels don't remember.

The more wings an angels have, the older they are, each wing represents close to a millenium [1000 years]

Venti has numerous wings, a pair on his ankles, waist, back, and ears. The sets on his head and ankles are too small to be useful in sustaining flight and are more indicative of status. The set on his waist helps stabilise his flight. The largest, his back wings, are his flight wings.

But since becoming an archon, his flight wings had been clipped and can no longer support him, metaphorically grounding him

He can still fly just through the use of anemo, but he still yearns to be able to feel the wind flow past his feathers

With dragons and seelies being revealed as alternate forms angels can take - Seelies being a forced state due to forgoing the shades rules. Wisp Venti, during his explorations of the surface, would know how to vaguely communicate with the lost and abandoned forms that the shades had abandoned

chances he meets the true inhabitants of Teyvat [Dragons and their sovereigns] may come as a surprise and get him chased by the original saurians

Decarabians reign

Did not really understand humans and their sense of emotional range

When the nameless bard told him about the revolution and what they were trying to achieve by overthrowing the king, Venti offered to take care of it for him

When the nameless bard asked how he would do so, Venti explained it by sucking the oxygen out of the room and almost suffocated him [Since Venti couldn't verbally communicate in his wisp form

The nameless bard banned him from doing that as it could kill more than just the king and his loyal knights

but it becomes their backup plan

Venti learnt human emotions through the nameless bard when he died. The Ragnivindr clan head explained to Venti that loss was similar to how it feels when he [an angel] feels when the person they're guiding never finds the treasure he'd hidden. The analogy made everything click in his head

Present Teyvat - Mondstadt

Spent a lot of his earlier years using the wind to spread different seeds across Teyvat - those absurdly hard to reach materials on the top of cliffs? Ventis fault

additionally the reason why theres so many apple trees in Mondstadt is because every time he’d want to eat an apple, the trees were always located outside a humans house or in areas where the humans congregated, so whenever he'd managed to snatch one he’d use anemo to swirl it away to a hidden grotto and plant it so he can wait for more to grow [He did not factor in the human population to boom as it did and for them to find his hoard of farms]

We know Venti created alcohol in Teyvat - So when the Ragnivindr clan moved into winery after the age of Decarabian. They probably made a rule that if Barbatos is to make himself known, he'd be allowed free drinks since he is the original creator

Diluc, when he learnt of the rule after going through his fathers things, really debated not honouring it and wanted to leave it for the next generation to continue

Knights of Favonius

One of his early vessels he'd decided he wanted to try get into the knights of Favonius, but he was so bad at handling a sword that he got kicked out

Venti tried again a few years later, this time with a claymore. He couldn't even pick it up and was turned away at the door

He had more luck with a polearm until he accidentally flung it into the wall and lodged it so that no one could remove it [The Grandmaster at the time was impressed but had to send him away]

He was going to try with a catalyst, but he channelled far too much elemental power into it and exploded the poor thing. It took him out for a few weeks

Finally, when he applied to trial using a bow, he passed with flying colours and was given an invitation to become a captain - which he declined and dropped out.

Church of Favonius

Mondstadt has a lot of Catholic themes that contradict itself and which then makes some of their major factions defunct. which is an interesting take on it, In Teyvat, the religion of Barabatosim is both a major power yet also the weakest

Venti, as we know, is very open about allowing people to have the knowledge that he's Barbatos but isn't adamant about convincing them if they choose not to believe it

Leading to the idea that he's told everyone exactly who he is but no one but the majorly inebriated believe him.

The Church [Those who dont believe him] allows him to claim Barbatos without consequences simply because he seems to be the only one who can accurately convey the hymns that are carved into the churches walls

Music and song

He can read sheet music perfectly fine. He cannot however read written lyrics and has to learn through hearing it first

He does know how to read [Ancient Mondt] but gave up relearning it since it changed every single time he reawoke

He knows how to play every instrument old and new - when he needs mora for something specific that he can't get otherwise, he will go to antique stores like Marjorie's and offer his services of fixing the damaged instruments

Using anemo, he can create his own chorus. when he sings, he can manipulate the currents to have numerous voices singinging with him and alter their pitch and tune

About Istaroth

After hanging out with humans for so long, he jokingly calls Istaroth his ‘mother dearest’ when really she is his archangel and superior

Equally, he calls the other shades, his aunties in a mocking tone whenever he can.

He has a close relationship with Istaroth and respects her. They're close and while Istaroth sees it differently he's less combative when she asks for something from him since she has helped him ensure the protection of more than just Mondstadt [Wiping Mare Jivari off the timeline, what he heard about helping Makoto, etc.]

it becomes strained with the Cataclysm, especially when he sees what Auntie Ronova inflicted upon the survivors of Khaenri’ah

About Ronova

Since the death of the nameless bard, their relationship had not been upkept. He realised the depth of how her domain inflicted the human lives he now cares about

He knows it's not a purposeful predicament that she invokes on them.

It takes Venti a long time to develop his understanding of freedom now that the people of Mondstadt consider him a symbol of it

It takes a few hundred years before he comes to see death as a different sort of freedom. For humans and mortals, it's an inevitable end.

For Gods it means a release.

So when Ronova begins even taking death from the mortals, stripping them of that morbid freedom, he tries to remove himself from her circle of angels

Mixed feelings, out of all the still living archangels, she is the one he sees the most seeing as shed taken a domain within his nation over by Dorman port

though she has been missing the past 500 years and the domain is now breaking the fabric of space in the area… He's not upset, but he swears.
