          “Monsieur Fear.” The breath of spoken words came in a puff of steam against the frigid underground air. Lips pressed together to stave off a wayward drop of blood. Brutal as she must have appeared, the ghost wasn’t ready to taste her handiwork. Some glimmer of humanity within her prayed she never would be.  

         Shoulders rolled back, something cracking tiredly in her spine with the motion. “Unfortunate matter, this. A trap would’ve gotten him if I’d been only a few moments later. Just a few... a few moments later.” Her chest nearly heaved as she spoke, as though it took great effort. Her traps had taken lives before, but killing personally still shook her. A slow drag of her sleeve against her mouth left another stain on the disheveled white fabric. 

         Eventually she managed to look at the man that approached her, one of the few she allowed in her domain. The right side of her face turned toward him, stark white mask splattered red and blue eyes behind them blown wide and dark. “I hope you’ll forgive the mess.” 

“i-- i’d think no one wants to go into a gunfight in the first place...”

what’s that supposed to mean, anway? is this guy a policeman? is he with the feds? (that’s the fbi, right?) is he some kind of super secret, super sketchy, super scary mob boss?! god, the possibilities are endless! she never signed up for any of this! she just wanted to live her fashionable, allergy-free life in peace! oh, coolgirl, what she wouldn’t give for your composure now!!

5. five positive things-- arcs, deaths, events, issues-- that stuck with you.

harley's little speech to ulysses highwater in hq #21 (i think?) about how you don’t go to hell for being queer and then like within the next issue or two etrigan showed up and basically kicked her out of hell for... technically not because she was secure in her queerness but kind of also yes because she was secure in her queerness, like, the implication was there and the sentiment was there and the validation that those pages brought was just. wowza holy fuck. like bro i’m an atheist but that doesn’t make the pervasive “queers go to hell” idea any less painful so @everyone who worked on that comic: thank you

harley’s little mini-story in suicide squad (rebirth) where waller (? i think it was waller but it might have been joker idr) sets up a joker toxin trap that forces her to hero up or desert the squad and there’s a little joker in her head that tells her to leave flag and she’s like “dude i don’t wanna do that” and he’s like “that sounds like hero talk” and she just goes “EW” and like the whole thing at the end of it is that no, she’s not a hero, she’s not a good person, she’s not a role model you should look up to, but that doesn’t mean she won’t take the opportunity to save a life and it was just. really Not Dark Not Edgy Not Nihilistic and that was very refreshing

jessica jones being mad at scott lang for ghosting on her and cussing him out in jessica jones: alias #21 but then he goes “i’ll take you on a date” and she’s like “GOD! JESUS! HOW COULD YOU! FUCK! ... is it a fancy date” like that was just? so human and funny and sweet in the wake of a bunch of really depressing shit

spider-man: blue really resonates with me and i’m putting it here because while it is obviously very sad because it’s basically, y’know, peter talking to gwen’s grave, it’s a very like... constructive? look at the grieving process and it kind of takes a step back from the drama of comics and says “yeah you’re always going to miss the people you’ve lost but guess what? so does literally every other person on the planet, so don’t ever feel like you’re alone in that mourning process and don’t ever feel like you can’t find support with those still living”

the multiple times cassandra cain’s batgirl run where she just. hugs or kisses people or otherwise expresses her concern for them with pda, even if they’re complete strangers, because it’s so sweet and caring and honestly that’s a vibe i want to see more of all the time everywhere

who steals french fries off the other’s plate: both, are you kidding me, they have no shame. except more often it’s aldous because he usually goes to fancy restaurants and then when harley picks the restaurant and it’s some random fast food place that’s been in amusement mile for 30 years he’s like “i’ll just order a salad or something i want to eat healthy” and then whaddaya know 45 seconds later he’s practically jumping over the table to get some of harley’s fries before she blocks him

who jokingly moves in for the kiss when someone asks if they’re a couple: harley. always harley. but aldous will put his arm around her shoulder and start talking about how they want a summer wedding so really who’s worse here

who has to bust or bail the other out of jail: aldous, because he’s not a dumb-ass who decides to stick up a 7-11 for all the junkfood he can carry

who gives the other advice/comfort about dating issues: i think it’s pretty even for both of them tbh

who shamelessly cheats at games by reaching over to cover the other’s eyes: both. they’re villains, harold

who immediately calls dibs on the top bunk: this is a tough one because harley doesn’t care about top bunk at all but she DOES care about being a nuisance so she’ll call top bunk immediately even if she doesn’t want it for the sole purpose of annoying the other person and possibly starting a fight because she’s A Messy Bitch Who Lives For Drama……….. but she also respects aldous enough to probably not pull this shit on him more than once or twice? so truly it is a mystery

who starts and who wins the pillow fights: aldous starts them and harley wins them every time without fail

“you know that ain’t even a question.” they just finished their third romcom, which makes it god-knows-when in the morning, and she’s leaning over his legs and draping across his lap so he couldn’t leave even if he wanted to. harley quinn: human sandbag? it’s more likely than you think!
