so about 6 or 7 years ago, my best friend and i were on her laptop looking over her absurd amount of tabs she had open, the majority of which were random wikipedia articles, some of which she’d had open for months and just hadn’t checked or closed yet, and as we went through them we came across one that had been tampered with. it was a brief moment, the perfect timing, before the wikimods swooped in and fixed it up, and this moment became legendary for the two of us. i believe the page was actually william wordsworth but some beautiful soul had changed his name to be ‘shitty fuzzlebox.’ Shitty. Fuzzlebox. nothing else about the page was changed except for that and we both completely lost our shit when we saw it. she screencapped it (tho the cap has been lost since then, RIP) and by the time we refreshed it, it had been fixed up. i imagine only a handful of people witnessed this moment and we were both lucky enough to have been amongst them. shitty fuzzlebox has gone on to be an on-going inside joke with us that still, after all these years, is hilarious for absolutely no reason. it makes no sense. there’s no real context. we can’t explain this to other people and have them get why it’s funny. i don’t think we get why it’s funny. but it is. it’s still fucking funny. if you’re out there reading this, shitty fuzzlebox editor, whomever you may be, i just want you to know: you were seen. you were acknowledge. your wikipedia editing changed lives. we think about you and your work daily. thank you for your efforts.
