My own personal Scooby-Doo re-imagining canon includes:
-out and proud lesbian Dominican/Puerto Rican Velma (yes I'm projecting, leave me alone)
-Velma has audhd
- velmaphne happens eventually
-sapphic/unlabeled daphne
-ace/homoromantic and autistic Fred Jones
-he's dating Shaggy who is a pan Trans man
- they are adhd/autism boyfriends
-fuck it, they're all autistic and you can fight me
-Velma and Fred have a shared special interest in machines and will talk about it with each other. They love to share what they know or what they learned and talk about improvements to designs and the like.
-daph and Fred grew up together. Daph's family works in politics and Fred's dad is running for governor or some other government role. Maybe daph's dad is a congressman.
-Daphne is very romantic and tried to liken their relationship to that of a fairytale with Fred being her prince charming but it didn't work out that way
-the two are fs soul mates just not the ones Daphne wanted originally
-she did play match maker to shaggy and Fred and it was a feat. Although, she couldn't clock velms would practically break her back bending over backwards for her.
- they meet in college where velms is majoring in forensic science , Daph is double majoring in business and hospitality (because of her parents) but she switches to journalism where she is much happier, Fred is in Mechanical engineering (idk it makes sense imo) and shaggy is majoring in veterinary science or culinary arts.
-they met in a creative writing class for their humanities credit where they find out they have a shared love of horror movies and mysteries. They did seriously debate on creating a Vincent Van Ghoul fanclub.
- they don't become an actual mystery solving group until they find out about a missing person's case for a student in their class and decided to take matters into their own hands
-found family⢠they understand each other like no one else
-besties shaggy and daphne! Daph is a huge foodie and runs a vlogging channel with him! They love romantic comedies and this one novella in particular and will have frequent sleepovers where they do each other's nails and hair and gossip and fan tf out
- Fred joins in on occasion. He loves it even though he doesn't know what's going on. He does engage when he can though and somehow becomes very versed in the relationship dynamics of the show
-shaggy plays wingman for velms and daph and will listen to both of them pine over the other. He is tired.
-velma is fluent in 5 languages and uses them frequently, even to flirt.
-Daph can speak 3 but mostly just to talk business.
-daphne tries so fucking hard to live up to the expectations that her parents has for her and she does but they are never completely satisfied. Her whole arc is finding her own sense of self outside of her family.
-she's head of the cheer team, debate club, and the fashion column in the school's newspaper and graduated saludatorian at her high school
-Velms is also a journalist and she will try and work with daph when she can
-Supernatural occurances does happen. Eventually at least. In the beginning it's their regular whodunit shtick until they meet cosmic horrors that even Lovecraft couldn't imagine and cults (gasp)
-there will be stakes! It will be mature and dark but bc the plot calls for it
-daph was a part of the hex girls as she roadie and backup to Thorne, she did use this fact to flirt with velms.
-They are their brujas on speed dial.
-The gang doesn't know how Daph did it or for how long and they'll never get a straight answer. One day daph will say she found them practicing in an abandoned space and the next she might say they met at a commune. Her favorite thing to say is "oh. You know." as cryptically as she can and just stare off into the distance, just for kicks. Shaggy is convinced Thorne is Daphs twin sister or clone and they won't try and convince him otherwise.
-the hex girls are a polyam couple
-Scooby is young dog instead of having grown up with shaggy. Great Danes only have like an 8-10 year life span where 6 is average. Shaggy found him a injured and wandering on the edge of the woods that's next to the school.
I do plan on writing out this fic but idk if it has any merit. If I do write it would anyone be interested in reading?

i dont know much about scooby doo characters but for a prompt maybe a drabble with drunk daphne and velma looking after her?
(AO3)
âVelm? Did Fred tell you where he was going?â
From where Velma stands in the bathroom, Daphneâs voice is muffled, and she canât tell if itâs because thereâs a wall between the two of them or Daphne is just half-passed out face first into the beanbag again. She frowns at her reflection, her face still dripping from where sheâd taken off her glasses and splashed it with cold water from the tap. She closes her eyes and sighs. âHome, probably.â
âItâs so early, though. I miss him.â
She takes off her glasses, again, wiping them with the hem of her shirt, a fond smile on her face. Daphne isnât drunk - not really, not to the degree that she can be. Drunk Daphne is, put nicely, a mess. She has a bad habit of going out with her more party-oriented friends from class and coming to Velmaâs immediately afterwards, eating all the food in her fridge, and then promptly puking the next morning and apologising until she canât speak, no matter how many times sheâs reassured that itâs not that big of a deal. Itâs always uncomfortable, and a bit intimidating, but drunk Daphne is also funny, and clingy, and honest, and Velma kind of likes that. Not that sheâs particularly reserved the rest of the time - sheâs naturally friendly, and itâs just a universally known fact that everyone in their year has been in love with her smile at some point - but thereâs always a certain level of unnatural shine to her. Daphne Blake was not one to show her weaknesses to the world; only to the gang, and whoever happens to be around when she throws back the right amount of shots. Velmaâs tried to join in, a few times, but sheâll never understand the hype around those tiny glasses of liquid death. Sheâs told that itâs about drinking with the express purpose of getting drunk, but sheâd rather just sip a cider and let herself get tipsy enough to have a good time. Once she even let herself get dragged into dancing, but sheâs weak, and sheâd do anything Daphne asked for as long as she smiles at her like that.
Resting her orange frames back on her nose, she peeks her head around the door and sees that Daphne is, indeed, lying with her face buried into the beanbag in the corner, her body weirdly sprawled out on the floor, her shirt riding up and showing a good portion of Stomach. From what Velma can see of her face, her brow is furrowed and her eyes are squeezed shut, and her frizzy hair is sprawled around in every direction, tickling her nose. Itâs cute. Or something. âItâs not early. Itâs past eleven, I think,â Velma says, while really itâs probably closer to ten, but she wants to make the corpse of a girl on the floor feel better about the fact that she got wasted mere hours after the school day had ended. Fridays, huh. âHe could be going to Shaggyâs, actually. They havenât seen each other in a few days. I think he missed him.â
Daphne giggles, turning her head a little as the seat shifts under Velmaâs weight. âThey could just tell us theyâre dating and be done wâthâit.â
âDonât be like that,â Velma tells her, but sheâs smiling. âFred only came out maybe a week ago.â
âItâs been, like, six months.â
âClose enough.â
Daphne groans and slowly props herself up on her elbow, using Velmaâs arm to lift herself as she does, making her skin burn. She looks at her and itâs one of those moments where sheâs so, massively aware of how hot she is. Itâs weird. Her eyeliner, once thick and sharp, is now smudged and flaking across her nose and around her temple; her hair has lost all semblance of order; her nose ring is askew just enough to be irritating; her eyes are squinting as if sheâs looking at the sun, and glazed over, unfocused. She looks so messy, and natural, and itâs great, and sheâs great, and she opens her mouth and says, âI donât understand why some people at school donât like you.â
Velma frowns. Her posture, already slumped, curls up slightly. âGee. Thanks. I love you too.â
âNo, no, I just - I mean,â Daphne sits up fully, holding up a hand and using the other to steady herself. Her tone is so genuine that her words are almost not insulting, but only almost. âYouâre so. So pretty? And you know how thereâs that whole - super, fucking stupid way that people in school choose their friends because - of how pretty people are, so even if you, like, use their bullshit standards, which I donât agree with by the way, everyone should still love you, but you still have to deal with so much shit. I donât get it.â
The compliments make her smile - Daphneâs one of those girls that will just compliment everyone non-stop when sheâs loopy or tipsy. Itâs one of the things she loves about her.
To be honest, Velma doesnât like to think about where she stands in the arbitrary social hierarchy of the student body - partially because itâs not even a real thing. No one looks at two people standing next to each other in the hall and takes time out of their precious day to decide if they fit together or not. Thatâs just not how teenage minds work. Everyoneâs too busy being worried, tired, or distracted by their own friends to care. If it was really a thing, there would have been an uproar when the four of them - a cheerleader, a friendly jock type, president of the robotics club, and a stoner - had banded together, labelled themselves âthe gangâ and started showing up to class every day in Fredâs bright blue van, but there wasnât.
However. This doesnât mean that her and Daphne werenât on different⌠steps of the social ladder, so to speak.
She sighs and rolls her head back, hoping her annoyance isnât too obvious. This is a stupid thing to be thinking about. âWhy say this now, anyway? Thatâs how it always is, Daph. I live with it.â
Daphne just hums, not looking away.
She doesnât answer, and Velma doesnât pressure her, so the moment stays just like that - suspended in an atmosphere which neither of them want to break. They have a lot of moments like this together. Theyâre usually with the whole group, but when theyâre not, itâs usually just the two of them, helping each other with homework or watching a movie or any other excuse to share each otherâs space. Itâs always days like this - sitting in Daphneâs beanbags on the floor of her impossibly large bedroom (it scares her how rich the Blakes are), dimly lit by the table lamp, that leave her drowsy and excited and her heart full. But also, Daphneâs been drinking since before five, and that gnaws on Velma the more time goes on. She turns her torso towards her, speaking quietly. âWhatâs wrong, Daph? Youâre not usually like this.â
Daphne flinches a little, even though she obviously tries to hide it. âItâs not - nothing, itâs nothing. Iâve had,â she stops, flopping her head forward a bit like she wants to lie down. âIâve had a hard few weeks. Thatâs - it. I promise.â
âOk,â Velma says. Even if she wants to push it, she knows that that wouldnât help at all. If she wanted to, Daphne would talk, but until she does she just needs her to curl up with her on some beanbags and listen to her ramble, and thatâs fine. Velma can handle that. âCan I stay over tonight?â
âYeah - god, yeah, of course you can, Velm. Iâll go grab an extra pillow.â Daphne shoots up to her feet, and immediately sways, probing with her hand to find something to balance on, before Velma grabs it and tugs her back down with a smile.
âYou have a double bed, dorkus. Weâll just share like we always do.â She hesitates. âAnd itâll make it easier for me to force you to drink water.â
Daphne, recovering from the trip, shakes her head. âIâve barely drunk.â
âI know, but Fred wants us up early tomorrow. Something about an art thief in the next town over. We donât want you hungover with all that going on.â
âFine,â Daphne mumbles, leaning forward. Her forehead lands on Velmaâs shoulder, and she seems to accept it, snuggling into the material of her jumper. âCan I just. Stay like this for a sec? Please?â
Face hot, Velma places a hand on her friends back and rests her chin on her head. Her red hair smells like some kinda extra strong coconut shampoo, and she thinks that maybe thatâs a creepy thing to think about, so she doesnât. âYeah. Take all the time you need.â She closes her eyes. âI donât have anywhere more important to be.â

Daphne: My girlfriend is constantly mocking me for how lightly done I like my toast.
Daphne: âYour hot bread is done,â she says to me. Disgusting.
Velma: I donât say that. âHotâ would imply itâs been in the toaster for more than fifteen seconds.
Velma: âYour lightly warmed bread is done,â I tell you.
Velma: One of these days Iâm not even going to put it in the toaster, Iâm just gonna breathe real hard on the bread for a minute and youâll be like âWow, this is perfectly done.â
Daphne: âThank you so much for warming up my bread for me honey, Iâm so glad weâre dating, I love you,â I say to you every time your mean little ass makes toast for me.
