Yapping in DMs earlier today made me realize there's some lore I haven't talked about.
So … a little background: Coranzan's mother, Zilharess, was once part of a minor noble house. While she was young, it fell due to suspicions of Eilistraeen connections (never proven and wasn't something she [or her mother were] involved in). But the Baenre's had to crush a few small houses to make an example of those leaving the surface so. RIP. In its wake, her mother, Nanrynne, decided not to take it lying down and just start over in a completely new sector where they wouldn't be known. They agreed never to mention the family name again but they would get on their own two feet. (This is why Coran has no surname) She works with a Vhaeraunite, Alunrryn, who is also trying to lay low but make connections to the surface. They decide to set up a merchant guild as a facade and she's pretty shrewd at it. In this business, Coran's mother, Zilharess, meets with Alunrryn's brother, Veldrin - Coranzan's eventual father - who is a deeply embedded Secret Moondancer and also supports the business for his own discreet travel needs. It he who manages to bring her over. Through the trading business they visit Skullport often and meet with other Eilistraeens and in time she's convinced by them.
