Winter Weather Prep: Get Your Vehicle Ready for the Cold Season
As winter looms, preparing your car or truck for the challenges of icy roads and freezing temperatures is crucial. A little prep work can ensure your safety and keep your vehicle running smoothly. Here’s a quick checklist for Winter Weather Prep:
Tire Check: Check your tires and their treads, either by inflating, periodically reversing the positions of your car’s wheels, or simply replacing worn out wheels. The tires for the winter with a definite tread help to have superior traction on the slippery surface.
Washer Fluid & Wipers: Keep the washer fluid in the windshield washer reservoir below freezing temperatures and your wiping blades clean for proper wiping of the wind shield.
Oil Change: Never miss your manufacturer’s recommended oil change interval and always go for winter grade oil especially in colder climates.
Fuel System Maintenance: Make sure your fuel filter is clean, and reciprocate this by running your gas tank low to reduce to risk of possible freezing.
When a car is properly prepared there are always fewer risks that a car owner is going to face on the road. Keep food supplies, water, tools, and spares such as spare fuses, spark plugs, a first aid kit, springs and useful small items for normal use, blankets, flares, flashlights, mirrors, jumper cables, fire extinguishers, etc to have emergency for breakdowns.
