I met up with my friend in town today for lunch. She was awesome, but town was not kind.
After spending far too long in traffic due to a massive line at the patrol station, followed by two sets of roadworks and some afternoon school rushing parents, I finally arrived in the city to find almost every single bike park I knew of around where we were supposed to meet was full.
Eventually I managed to find one free slot in a block of motorcycle parks on Union Street down by Chocolate Bean. Or at least, I thought it was a free spot. As it turns out, it was a trap, designed by the council to lure in bikers, used to free parking, and then stick them right in the middle of a no standing zone. I returned from lunch to find the whole row of us had been issued with $80 parking fines. Thanks Adelaide.
After my ordeal, I met my friend a little later than planed and together we walked down to find the restaurant had decided to close early. Another set back, but no real bother. We walked back up to Rundle Mall and decided to stop in for lunch at Vegetarian Garden. It was in fact, the first stop in our mission to visit and review all, or as many as we can find, of the vegetarian restaurants in the Adelaide city area.

We sat around in the food court for a while afterwards, reminiscing about high schools and the upcoming Adelaide Fringe festival, which it looks like I will have no hope of affording now. Conversing with her was definitely the highlight of an otherwise terrible day out.
On the way home, my spirits dashed by the parking mishap and wondering about the cost of the fine, which I had decided to put off reading until safely at home, my day took another hit while stopped at the traffic lights, I was forced to behold a truck full of squealing pigs off to serve mankind in a premature death.
What a horrible day on the roads.
Tonight I have my first chorus practice of the year. Hopefully the drive there is uneventful, and my comrades there can do some more to cheer my spirits.
