When there is negativity and tragedy in my life or in the world and I need a reprieve, I can come to my Swift family for pure positivity, love and kindness. I am devastated by the terrorism in Vegas. But the safety and support from this community, this family, reassures me there is hope. Hope for a better, kinder world. Last night I went on a “rant” on Facebook regarding the fact that the media tends to blame mass shootings perpetrated by white males on mental illness. In this “rant” I provided actual statistics and facts based on research regarding the association between mental illness and violence. I have gotten an overwhelmingly positive response, so I thought I would share here too. I also made the Facebook post public for those interested in reading the entire post.

What happened in Vegas was horrible... it hasn’t even been a week. Can America talk about gun safety now? I don’t usually post things like this, but I know many of you have been affected by this in many different ways.
