If I have to use plastic bags, I reuse and reuse and reuse them for months at a time until I'm eating messy fruit on a crowded NYC train and need somewhere to dispose of the seeds/pits/skin. Cloth bags are great but often don't keep greens as fresh for as long, unfortunately. I often say that "Reuse" is the forgotten of the 3 R's: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.
