The Pocketwatch Ticks Forward- Reika [RE: Literally Everything]
She'd been quiet such a long time, not speaking to anyone, lost in the chasms of her own mind, a picture of silent, still turmoil. After the last trial, she'd gone back to her room and stayed there, writing furiously to take her mind off of things and release her emotions on paper. She took a break once, to grind in the wild; but she was quickly defeated, unable to battle properly in her mindset. She'd remained in her room after the motive was given, and even after the murder. She would sit this one out, she decided. She needed to think some more, take a break. She hated feeling useless, but she knew she couldn't do anything right then.
And the trial went on without the input of Reika Tamari. She payed attention, but she remained quiet; even when the situation next to her broke out she still stood quietly. Accusations came and went, votes flew over her head... and before she knew it, the trial was over. They'd voted for someone innocent yet again. This time, she hadn't played a part. She'd sat quietly back and watched it happen.
Which was worse? Contributing to the polls that led an innocent to death? Or simple watching while it happened, doing nothing to stop it?Â
Reika didn't know. But after the battle, she was glad that Zeta had won. In Reika's mind, she was far more innocent than Robin, who seemed they could have become dangerous at any time. They'd picked an innocent person who'd already suffered to battle against, and they lost. It was their punishment; and to Reika, it was fair. Even though the execution was horrible, her mind needed some way to justify it. Unlike last time, Robin hadn't been innocent-- they'd hurt Reika's friends. Maybe it was selfish, maybe they didn't deserve to die, but to Reika, it was right.Â
The writer spoke aloud, somewhat quietly, for the first time in days. Her expression was obscured by the hair in her face as she stared at the ground, gripping her podium loosely.
Then she turned and walked swiftly out of the trial room. Now, she should be more or less back to her old self...
