Many people that play WoW will grind for an item, pet or mount with a very low drop rate for ages, because they believe that it will eventually drop if they keep at it long enough.

And yet...

Many people will have casual sex over and over again without concern because they believe that with the use of a condom, the chances of an unwanted pregnancy or disease is so slim it's not likely to ever happen.

WoW very rare item drop rate chance: 0.01%

Condom failure chance: ~1%

Thus, people will assume a good thing will happen if they do something long enough, but will assume a bad thing won't happen even though it's about 100 times more likely.

Maybe that's why people that play WoW don't have casual sex lives: we choose to play WoW instead because we're more aware of the drop rate.

So close and yet still 2 days away before I can hit exhalted.  :(

Okay, so I could go out clubbing and hang out in noisy bars with crappy music, surrounded by annoying drunks and losers, sleezy jerks and skanky tarts, suffer brain-dead conversations that have to be yelled to be heard over the noise, the reek of beer and sweat, and the ridiculas cost of a drink... I think I'd rather pass on all that and play WoW.

I could watch tv and bore myself to death with crappy rehashed storylines, fake over-stereotyped characters, and zero interaction... I'd rather play WoW.

I could spend time playing games on an x-box, playstation, etc... but such games bore me. I'd rather play WoW.

I could spent time haunting so-called social sites, like facebook, and read about everyone else's shallow dumbass dramas, play mindless boring games, get harassed online, and let others create huge social dramas for me by hiding behind their keyboards and influencing all the so-called friends on my list that aren't really friends but like to pretend to be because they're on my "friends" list... but I'd rather play WoW.

Add the hours normal people spend in public bars and clubs, watching tv, playing other games, and hanging out on social internet sites during the week, and you have more than the number of hours the average person plays WoW each week.

What constitutes having a life? Enjoying whatever it is you do means you are living rather than merely existing. If someone is enjoying spending time playing WoW, they're living.

Get a load of this. Blue was bitching me out because at Ozruk in Stonecore, my dps was, for the most part, caused by autoshot and dots. Ozruk is a mongrel of a boss. If he has his shield, I can't use arcane shot, if he doesn't have his shield I get rooted and can't do anything at all. Explosive shot has a 6 sec cd and steady shot is slow to use so I might get one of each off between getting rooted. Other than that, dots and autoshot are pretty much all I can do in this fight. He rage-quit blaming my dps for being too low on that particular fight and yellow went with him. When this appeared in chat after the last boss was down, I ROFLMFAO.

It's the things guilds do together that make them good to be in.

Some guilds raid like demons possessed and their raid teams are legendary.

Some guilds are so social they organise real-life meet-ups and activities for their members.

Some guilds are so PvP that they own battlegrounds, arenas, and every PvP zone on their server.

Some guilds are so united that if you gank one of their members, you will find you suddenly have the entire guild ganking your ass.

Some guilds generally do a little bit of everything without any particular specialisation, and those ones often also do weird and even obcessive stuff.

Like this guild.

It has been decided that we will run OC every Wednesday night at 20:00  (8pm) realm time until every toon in the guild that can walk into that raid has the drake mount that drops from the boss.

I have a feeling I'll be running that raid for a few years to come with so many toons in our guild we have to get that mount for. I wonder how long it will take for me to get it... mhm... I'm the antithesis of a high roller. lol
