When you get this, it would be cool to post 10 facts about yourself and then pass it along to 10 followers. :)
Hiiii Meera Ji ( @varunsdvns )! I hope youâre doing well. I miss talking to you!Â
Thanks for sending this :D I am sorry it has taken so long to get this done. Here goes:
1. I am an accountant by profession and usually get mistaken for someone who was âforced to study this because⌠Indian parentsâ. In reality, I love my job and chose this career path for myself.
2. I am from Rajasthan in India.
3. I love photography, it is one of my favourite hobbies and I really miss my camera because life has honestly gotten in the way of all things fun.
4. I am very very possessive of my friends. Like, very possessive.
5. Iâve been told that when drunk, I become an over-protective/caring mama bear đ Apparently on my birthday drinks this year, I made sure my friends were well fed and ordered a whole heap of food for them and messaged them when they didnât tell me that they were home safe.
6. I blabber a lot at times, and once I get comfortable with people, I will have no filter which isnât the best thing lol.
7. I have zero patience for impractical and stupid ideas. I recently went off at my close friend because the ideas she was suggesting for our weekend trip were just ridiculously impractical and made no sense. I apologised later... but lord, she coped it.
8. I have faced a lot of racial abuse/bullying as a teenager and online bullying (thanks India-Forums, a shit-hole of a place where people think they own everything and no one can be as good as them), and as a result of this, I react fiercely to any jokes made about racism/bullying.
9. I trust people very easily, which, again, is not the best thing.
10. This is random but I should actually be in bed rn because I has work tomorrow and itâs past midnight here also I could not think of a 10th fact hah :P
I believe it's a special little Libran's birthday today isn't it? Happy happy Birthday Sam! I hope you have an absolutely amazing day! And spend it smiling that simply gorgeous smile of yours because you make the world a better place, truly. Thank you for accepting and ruining me with my crazy ship obsession and thank you for being so great to talk with always â¤ď¸ sending you lots and lots of love on your special day and for the rest of your days!
Yes it is yes it is!!! Thank you so so much Meera â¤ď¸
That was such a lovely wish M, just like you. I feel so blessed and happy to have known you, youâre the best ILYSM. Thank you for always always listening to my crazy rants and still sticking by me through it all. I wish for everything you have ever dreamt about to come true and I solemnly promise to keep all your ships sailing forever!!!
âDoes baba know?â Ahaana looks at her younger sister from the computer screen where PinkVilla has been opened, pictures of Ahaana glaring back at her.
âDo you really think baba is going to check PinkVilla?â Drishtiâs voice filtered through the room as she stepped out of the bathroom, closing the door to her elder sisterâs bedroom shut so that their parents didnât walk in on them. She remembered a time when there had been a âno closed doorsâ policy in the house because of how Pakhi had walked in on their parents kissing in the bedroom. To this day, the middle daughter was glad that the youngest had walked in when she did, any later - and all three of them would have been scarred.
Pakhi, not one to be left out of the famous Roy daughtersâ discussions, moved to where her sisters were crowded over the small Macbook. It was the latest one, a gift from their dadu, one that she remembered her father had protested against before her mother had placed a hand on his shoulder and her father had calmed down. Pakhi wanted a love like that, like the one she saw between her parents - almost as if her mother was her fatherâs anchor. âDidi, you look so pretty.â Pakhi leaned in further, until her nose was almost pressed up against the screen. âIs that Ammaâs top? Did you borrow Ammaâs clothes again?â
âYes,â Ahaana hissed, pushing her sister away. âDonât tell Amma, Pakhi. You remember how angry she got when I dropped ketchup on her white dress! Sheâs never let me borrow anything after that.â
âI donât think thatâs who you should worry about Pakhi telling,â Drishti drawled from where she was seated on the bed, filing her nails. Both sister met eyes before Ahaana slowly shut the lid to her laptop, moving to where Pakhi was.
âForget that, you can tell Amma if you want but Pakhi I swear Baba ko mat batana.â
âWhy?â
How could Ahaana answer that question? How could she tell Daddyâs favorite daughter what the implications of this picture was?
âWait, why are you on PinkVilla? Hum famous toh nahin hain⌠And you werenât at dinner yesterday either â Amma ne bola that you were at Karishmaâs house but you snuck home after midnight. If you were at Karishmaâs then you wouldnât have come home till this morning.â
âOh look, itâs Detective Byomkesh Bakshi.â Ahaana laughed at Drishtiâs jibe and ruffled Pakhiâs hair, tugging her in for a hug.
âItâs nothing you have to worry about Pakhi, just donâtâ donât mention it to baba.â
Tanya bit down on her bottom lip, staring at her husband who had been pacing the kitchen floor for the past hour. She worried that he would wear the hardwood thin, and then they would receive another complaint from the grouchy old uncle downstairs. Itâs not right to live in an apartment when you have three daughters, her own mother had told her but how could Tanya tell her - it wasnât an apartment. They called it a maisonette these days, an apartment with two floors.
âIs this who sheâs been seeing?â Aarav finally spat, nodding to the open laptop screen in front of them. Their daughter was splashed all over the news sites with Mumbaiâs favorite star son, Aryan Malhotra. It was impossible to live in Mumbai and not hear about the Malhotra family, headed by superstar Krish Malhotra and his gorgeous designer wife, Radha Malhotra. Except, her husband wouldnât see it the same way, Tanya could already tell he was annoyed. Tanya however, squinted at the (surprisingly) HQ pictures of her daughter before pausing.
âIs that my top sheâs wearing?â A closer glance and Tanya pulled back. âIt is!â
âThatâs not whatâs important here shona! Our little girl is seeingâ seeing this boy behind our backs. How does she even know him?â Aarav was grasping at straws, mostly surprised that his daughter had managed to show up on one of the most notorious gossip sites. Especially considering that this family had no relation to anything so famous. He knew Tanyaâs parents were rich - but that was no cause for her to be on this site.
Tanya looked away from her husband then, not wanting to tell him that she knew. She had known about Aryan and Ahaana for a while now; except theyâd told her that they were keeping it quiet, not wanting to be seen by the hounds who were desperate for some blood. And yet, here her daughter was on the front page, wearing Tanyaâs shirt and a tight skirt as she clutched at Aryanâs arm. âShe knows him from school. Theyâre friends roshogulla.â
The wrong choice of words to use. She also knew that the term of endearment she saved for special occasions would do nothing for his anger either and so Tanya rested her hand on his before he could scroll even further. Too late.
âFriends?â Aarav echoed, glancing at the next picture and back at his wife. âIs this how you see friends behave? Sheâs kissing his cheek. In public. His arms are around her waist Tanya, Iâm sure that if they werenât in public - his lips would be on hers!â Aaravâs voice had grown progressively louder and Tanya glanced upstairs to where their daughtersâ rooms were.
âDheere se. The girls are sleeping.â
It seemed as if Aarav was three steps ahead. âAhaana! Drishti! Pakhi! Down here, now. Your mother has made breakfast.â
Tanya raised an eyebrow at her husband, at the blatant lie he was telling because she had entered the kitchen to make breakfast yes, but had been ambushed by her husband and PinkVilla. âBut I havenâtââ
âYouâve said enough, Tanya. I want to talk to my daughter.â
âAarav sheâ It was going to happen anyway. This isnât just about you!â
âSheâs my daughter Tanya, I have a right to know who sheâs seeing! And if I want to talk to her, I will.â
The words echoed in the room as the girls appeared, both of them looking between their parents with wide eyes, not having expected to catch them in a fight. Ahaanaâs gaze of course fell to the site that was open on her motherâs laptop and she shut her eyes. She knew what this was about, and since the table was very obviously empty, and even the kettle for her parentsâ morning tea was not on the stove - she knew this had been a set up.
Aarav glared at Tanya before nodding at Ahaana. âSit.â His gaze softened as he looked at his younger daughters. âYou two go into the living room, watch some TV. Iâm sure thereâs homework to be done. Amma and Baba just have to talk to your Di about some school trip.â Aarav didnât even know why he lied; it was futile. The three girls shared everything, it was a possibility they already knew about this boy.
âKya hua Amma?â
Tanya glanced at Aarav, before she swallowed, taking a seat next to Ahaana and placing her hand on her daughterâs. âYour Baba has some things⌠Some things he wants to discuss with you.â The look in Tanyaâs eyes was evident that she didnât agree with her husband, not on this matter.
âThis boy. Who is he?â
âHeâs very nice baba, I like him very much. Weâveâ weâve been seeing each other for a few months now. Ammaâ Amma knows about him. Sheâs met him once.â
The woman in question shut her eyes, knowing that this would come back to bite her in the ass when she least expected it. She just never expected it to be now, never expected for her husbandâs questioning gaze to wheel onto her.
âYou knew about this, Tanya?â
A nod.
âIââ He exhaled. âWeâll talk about this later but for nowâ Ahaana, I want you to stop seeing this boy. Immediately.â
âBaba, thatâs unfair!â
âNot just that. You have a curfew now. I want you home by 10pm sharp every night. You will tell your mother and me wherever you are going, who you are seeing - everything.â
Ahaana stood up to leave, her hand reaching into her pocket for her phone when she saw her fatherâs hand held out. âWhat?â
âYour phone Ahaana. I donât trust you with it.â
âI need my phone Baba. Amma please explain toââ She went silent at the way her mother avoided her eyes, knowing that she wouldnât stand up to her father, not this time.
âItâs either your phone, or you get homeschooled. Your choice.â
Ahaana huffed and handed the phone over, but not before muttering a soft I hate you under her breath as she stomped out of the kitchen.
âShe knows Iâm doing it for her right?â
The whisper was so soft Tanya might have missed it if she hadnât been nestled in his arms, her head resting against his chest. She looked up at Aarav then, at the worry in his eyes and sighed before pulling away from the embrace, tugging him up into a sitting position with her.
âGod shona, she must hate me. She probably thinksâ thinks Iâm the worst father ever.â
Tanya shook her head, fingers hooking under his chin so that he looked up, so that he was looking at hers. âSheâs just angry right now, I promise. Sheâs a teenager Aarav, just because she says she hates youâ doesnât mean that she does. Sheâs a teenage girl, and one who has a boyfriend. A boyfriend you banned her from seeing.â
Aarav refused to look up, not giving any acknowledgement that heâd heard Tanyaâs words. Only a soft sniffle and that was how she knew that this was really affecting him.
âLook into my eyes, what do you see?â Tanya whispered, waiting for his gaze to meet hers. âWould I ever lie to you? Sheâs your baby girl Aarav, she could never hate you. She just doesnât understand.â
âI just donât want to see her hurtâ I know boys, I know teenage boys and heâs going to break her heart.â
âShe will understand Aarav, maybe not today. Maybe not soon but one day she will. I promise she will, Â roshogulla.â Tanya leaned in then, her hands cupping his cheeks as she pressed her lips to his nose. âI love you.â
