WBJ Day 6! Gender and Sexuality!
Alright, alright! We’re talking about gender and sexuality here in Vartak today! Let’s dive right into it!
Necrophiladelphia
Neither as a concept exists. They are fucking skeletons. They aren’t gendered. They don’t bone. Done. Easy. Fashion also isn’t gendered in Necrophiladelphia. Those skeletons wear what they want when they want, if they wear anything at all.
The Orcish Tribes
The orcish tribes have evolved over time such that gender roles have mostly been discarded. Those that are more inclined to help with the raising of children, with farming, with hunting, with building, with cooking, with war, with smithing, or with numerous other things, they do those things. It wasn’t always this way, but ways that were adopted very long ago. The orcs are very practical people, so the strict division of tasks and social responsibility based on who bore the children quickly fell out of favor. In fact, the binary really only exists in-so-far as who can bear children.
We’ve already talked about how orcish tribes were very communal, and while orc society isn’t a giant orgy, binary sexuality isn’t a mainstay of orc culture,Â
Velor
The people of Velor have turned into the destroyers of Haishinese customs in a lot of respects, and moving away from the strict gender roles of Haishin has been one of the things they have done. Trans acceptance and equality of gender and sex became the norm over a hundred years ago after the fighting of many brave individuals.Â
Velor is a largely monogamous society, but the gender of partners isn’t something they have cared about in quite some time. The only thing that is totally taboo in Velor is any form of love with the orcs. They are considered a different people,one that Velor is warring with, and any form of love between the two nations is met with disdain. (Some pockets of human superiority in general exist in Velor, but those pockets are incredibly small.)
@ladytabletop‘s Challenge! Stereotypes!
Orcs are stupid and brutish.
A stereotype held by the people of Velor. It rose in the society due to several factors: the great difference in the two societies, the fact that they have been at war for many years, and the language barrier. Orcs are actually quite intelligent, and while they are a nation of warriors, violence isn’t all they know or turn to.
Don’t fuck with Freeport Sailors.
They’re pretty tough people, and sail through some of the most dangerous waters. having the longest time spent in Kedadan raiding waters if they wish to make good time on their voyage. Any seasoned sailor in Velor has seen plenty of battle, but those out of Freeport have seen the most.Â
The Ratfolk are dirty disease carriers.
This one is partially true. The ratfolk are actually very clean people, despite the notions to the contrary. The stereotype comes because disease sweeps incredibly quickly through the ratfolk communities, due to close living quarters, and large familial units. When one member gets sick, they often get the rest of the members living in their infected as well.Â
