In 1931 a killer whale made its way in to the Columbia Slough. It was soon known affectionately as Ethelbert and, to a lesser degree, as Jimmy McCool’s Whale. After being shot at, gawked at and eventually speared through by an ex-whaler it spent the next 18 years in a tank full of embalming fluid in St. Helens, OR. You can read more about Ethelbert here.
