From the Ideas created previously, two themes of conflict and social issues were determined. To further my understanding of each topic and provide a visual stimulus for later inspiration I brainstormed things related to each topic and created an over-reaching net for each previous idea to be able to refer to this. Depth did not matter as this is purely a thought exercise to get ideas flowing.

This is the process through which each of the ideas expressed on the other pages were formulated. I kept a notepad on me which I scribbled the ideas down on and then on a later date I weighed up the pros and cons of each and determined artists and influences as well as the themes of each idea. As can be seen, ideas 1 and 2 were scrapped due to logistic and thematic issues, the remaining 3 are to be explored as so one of them can be determined for the final work.
i'm currently looking through my art books (we call them 'VAPDs' (Visual Arts Diary) at my school) from yr 9 and 10 when i took photography as a subject
WHOA THERE!
all these memories are flooding back!
we were assigned a group project to create a short film about this guy falling in love with this girl and sending her letters. so basically they became pen-pals...but one day the girl stops writing (or something). so the guy goes to her house to investigate her disappearance a few months prior their final letter exchange. turns out she died months ago from a bone-related disease...but...through her absence she HAS been writing him letters, but not sending them. FIN
i think i put the most effort in that assessment/project's VAPD section because it had the most interesting stuff. according to this VAPD i literally went to Bunnings (this really large store in Aus which has hardware, gardening stuff, and other things) and ransacked their paint section for the paint sample cards! because the colours represented different stages within the short film
there was also some sort of photoalbum/scrapbook things of pictures my friend and i took on our group's filming day...WHOA THERE looked like fun!
another page of inspiration was a print out of a really short AmeCan fanfic which was the most fluffiest abububu breath-taking thing omg. The thing is, my photog teacher back then wasn't the most 'open minded' person about same-sex relationships...so my friend who ships AmeCan literally wrote warnings all over the page around the fanfic (probably while i wasn't looking)
they then made me add a section from Sekai Ichi Hatsukoi (manga) which was literally the plot of the project (minus the character death and emphasis on the letters of absence)
there was also this page full of inspiration movies and songs
oh memories of the film 'il Mare' and '3-Iron' and 'Brokeback Mountain' and 'Dear John' ouo
THIS SONG THO. BLOODY 'This Love' by Sarah Brightman... OMFG...THIS SONG IS SO HEART WRENCHING UGH
OTHER PARTS OF THIS VAPD THO...
there is literally a page which is a full sized view of a cow...just...a cow...
s apparently we had a project about 'Hack Journalism' which revealed the absurdity of how news stories are presented on CERTAIN NEWS PROGRAMS ... and apparently we had a project to make a 'hack journalism' video... i decided to make mine about the Australian Milk Price Wars between Coles and Woolworths and farmers and smaller store holders. so that explains why i cringe at the mention of any type of Coles vs. Woolworths pricing war!
there's also a page with just two of these things i made when we were learning how to develop film from cameras in a dark room. i don't know why, but it kind of creeps me out.
the first one is me testing out the different effects of what happens when i expose the photo paper to different amounts of seconds of light (gradually gets darker so that it looks like the photo is being plunged into darkness).
the other is the developed b/w image on the film. the film is not mine because i think i found it in a book i bought from the markets... OH GOODNESS THIS GIVES ME SHIVERS.
it's a photo taken from inside a car (i think it's in the Philippines because of this flag in the image). it's like an image of a place where nothing in particular is the subject. but what really makes this image unsettling for me is the only person in the photo. it's this woman with long black hair, facing away from the camera about to cross the road holding her shopping. SHE MAKES ME FEEL MORE SCARED OF THIS IMAGE I DON'T KNOW ANYMORE.
so now i spend my night copying notes from my analysis of a Trop Fest short film 'Missing Her' for this essay for my hw (i think i'll use it as an ORT for English class (HSC) Area of Study 'Belonging')...thank goodness i have notes on this one already *A*
