A woman walks in, sits down at the bar and orders a hot tea. “Is that your van out there?” she asks. “I saw your cat in the window.” “Yep. That’s us!” We chat for a bit about her life and how she ended up in a small town in Nevada, share some stories of our own. She tells us a bit about days gone by and how she sputtered her jalopy to this place in the middle of nowhere as it met it’s mechanical demise and has been here since. Coming into town, we saw no signs of a grocery store or gas station—only one bar/restaurant. The town was just that small—which is something we’re used to—but we go ahead and ask her what she does for the basic necessities? “You just figure things out, you know? You load up the water tanks and gas cans and drive hours each way to stock up.
