"It's just a damn bike! It's not gonna change the world. Get over it..."
It is often difficult to bring our imagination to look beyond what’s immediately present, perhaps because it is difficult to take it as an article of faith that your imagination is a worthy interpretation of the future. When we began to share our idea of utilizing our composites manufacturing process to build a connected bike, we were told
“its just a damn bike and its not gonna change the world, just get over it. You have invented steel and are trying to make a table out of it. Just license the carbon fibre tech and move on. Why are you making the app, and why does it matter to connect a bike?”

World's first connected bike for urban commuters
The Vanhawks Valour smartbike has been making the rounds on the internet over the past few weeks. They're a Toronto based startup and they've just raised $820,000 on Kickstarter to build and sell the first connected smartbike. The bike will eventually retail for around $1,000.Â
Here's a video that explains it all. If you can't see it below, click here.
I'm pumped to see a Toronto startup doing so well and attracting so much attention globally. I hope they continue crushing it. Good luck guys.

Bikes are taking over!
What it is
We need to take care of our planet and by driving our car and scooters all the time, we don't help. In Holland we cycle all the time, but in most of the countries they don't. But there is some good news for the environment!
A few new innovations are going to help these car and scooter addict countries on a bike. One of them is the Toronto-based Vanhawks with their bike Valour. Also called the bike of the future. It's an ultra-light and durable bike. But the most amazing thing: it is the first carbon fiber smart bike in the world. You can hook the bike up to iOS and android using bluetooth. A lot of bicycles are getting stolen, but that is past time with this new system. The bike is connected through a bike-2-bike network, so the bike can be tracked if stolen. You can see a lot of data, like route, distance, time and speed with a special app. And if that wasn't enough, the valour has an amazing design. While you use this bike, the pressure on your back muscles, spine and buttocks are considerably less.
One of the most amazing bikes I have ever seen - Vanhawks
Bough Bikes is the second company with a great bike. The timber where the bike is made from is durable itself. This is because it is a product of the nature. The processing of it is a lot better than the production of steel. In total, the production of one bicycle saves 100 kilograms of CO2. The forests where the wood comes from is responsibility. More sustainable is hardly possible.

Why it 's cool
Moveing ourselves by bike is quick, healthy and easy. You can go to places where you can't come by car. You sport while you move yourself and it's better for your wallet. The bikes have a beautiful design, so you also look fashionable. Your physical wellbeing Increases the most. Your health , fitness and mobility increases significantly. Your material wellbeing will increas, because with riding a bike you'll save a lot of money. It can be good for your Emotional Wellbeing, but that is different for every signle person.
Future
The way people move into a city must and will change. And the biggest reason for this is the environment. Actually I wonder why there arn't more people cycling in big cities. This beautiful, new bikes makes cycling cities more than just a dream. In the future, everyone in the city will have a bicycle. The bikes are high tech. People can share everything, take fast routes and they can see where friends are located. They sports while they move to their work. Obesity will decrease. The cities adapt to the cycling society. There are huge roads built specifically for cyclists. Both in the air and under the ground. They are not affected by the electric cars that are driving on the roads. The cars will only be used for longer distances. Cyclists can move very quickly and safely.

The internet of things? How about he internet of bicycles!
It has finally arrived: the first ever connected bicycle. I'm talking about Vanhawks Valour Carbon Fibre bicycle.
Valour is a bike with a heck of an impressive list of features. It begins with an app (for iOS, Android or Pebble) which helps you with planning your ride for you.
The bike has built-in turn by turn navigation to get you where you want to be. And in order for you to be safe, it behaves like a Volvo by offering you blind spot detection: if you're engaging in a manoeuvre which would end up in a crash, your handlebar starts vibrating.
Of course the bike measures speed, distance and calories. But then, there's the whole mesh-networking thing. All Valour bikes will form one community because they are interconnected. Offering a bunch of theoretical advantages which only become real if you whole neighbourhood has the same bike.
But that is nitpicking, because this bike truly is impressive. It packs more technology than your average smartphone (Bluetooth 4.0, Gyroscope, Accelerometer, Magnetometer, Speed sensor, GPS Receiver, Mesh-network, Blindspot detection sensors, LEDs) and everything is charged by a Supernova Infinity S Front Dynamo Hub.
I my dictionary, the Valour definitely is a 'smart bike'.
