I LOVE COLLEGE AU VERA! I WROTE SO MUCH I HOPE YOU LIKE IT! THIS IS WAY LONGER THAN I EXPECTED IT TO BE! THERE IS NO BETA READING AND I HOPE THIS MAKES SENSE
Okay so I worked on with with @evinleighfantasy on this AU. Vera is my oc (Shy she/her pan human) and Alev is theirs (extroverted he/him pan fire Genasi).
Vera's usual storyline involves going to college for undergrad, grad school and her PhD then taking the first therapy job she finds in Solarhill. She was hired by Delilah to try to promote mental well-being in the community. Vera starts out as an adult specific therapist, but in the small town treating everyone was a struggle. Over time she realizes she's much happier as a children's therapist and opens up her office to a few other therapists and a virtual therapy system. Much nicer than running into your therapist at the grocery store and any time you want to take a yoga class (which Vera teaches). Alev, who was almost her first patient, ended up being her first Solarhill hookup her first night in town. Alev's appointment was meant to be on Vera's second day in town. Of course, they did not pursue a therapeutic relationship. They do end up each having twins via a potion mishap which is a wild and wondrous story for later.
HOWEVER; In this AU Alev and Vera are in Grad school. Instead of running the Solarhill Town Restaurant/Cafe Alev's a recently left private school bad boy, and instead of a PhD wielding therapist Vera is a 'grew up in super religious schooling only and still going to a religious college.' Her parents encouraged her to get a 'ring by spring', unfortunately she failed the first time and certainly getting another degree will fix that! Right? ... Right?!
(My religious trauma starts to make an entrance here. Trigger warnings include inebriation, lack of sex ed, and technically dub con)
The pair meet at an end of semester winter holiday party which Vera was begged to go to by her very friendly, and much more worldly, roommates. Even her religious leaders encouraged her to gain some experience with talking with men for her future husband. Even encouraging Vera to kiss someone! (You know when the priest is begging you to get some experience the situation is dire)
Vera meets Alev, accidentally spilling half consumed Jungle Juice onto his pants. He takes her to the bathroom and, with much experience cleaning for her current and future household, she's able to quickly remove their garments and treat the stains.
Alev suggests of a way to better pass the time. Involving Vera's very first kiss. She LOVES it. The pair are slightly inebriated, Alev not realizing what college Vera came from and Vera not having the sex ed to know what they are doing is far more than kissing (yet she loves every second and begs for more). Vera might be inexperienced but she is VERY excited and dying to learn more.
Both leave the party feeling like it was a success. Vera lets it slip at the end of the encounter that she'll see Alev again at the shared college tutoring center where the both worked. She recognized him, but he hadn't recognized her under the dark lights. Vera had already had a crush on Alev as well but was far too shy to talk to him without a real reason.
-Time skip-
Unfortunately, Vera picks up the worst stomach bug of her whole life over break! Vera feels horrible and tries to hide from Alev on the campus grounds. Eventually the pair end up alone in the tutoring center, and if you guessed they hook up again you'd be right.
Over break no one in her family notices anything off with Vera, and only her roommates pick up on something being off months later when she asks them for help expanding her waistline for her favorite pair of pants again. They finally ask for more details on what happened in that bathroom during that party, and when Vera tells them it comes with excitement and worry and many long conversations. Vera's always been on the heavier side, but her roommates are pretty sure that she isn't battling the grad student freshman fifteen and give her a pregnancy test. Hoping for a negative, she's met with nothing but positivity and very excited roommates. (Throughout her pregnancy they ask her a ton of questions about what it's like. Vera gets very flustered each time they do this, answering all the questions they have but finding the attention on her growing bump makes her quite flustered.) They'd all fight to feel the first movements, rubbing her bump for 'good luck' on exams, and asking for 'one on one's' with her belly when they've had a hard day. Just when ranting about the day to the therapy major gets a bit too hard. Thankfully all of her roommates are very positive and excited for Vera about the situation.
If Vera knows about the pregnancy, she doesn't tell Alev at first. If she doesn't know she just tries to hide her 'embarrassing weight gain' from him as long as she can. Alev's first inkling of an idea is when Vera mentions the stomach bug she had over winter break, but he assumes she knows best and if she didn't mention it that it would be none of his business.
((Here's the parts of the story still being worked on) 1. When Vera finds out. 2. How much Vera and Alev hook up between the reveal 3. How Alev finds out about the pregnancy 4. Lots more questions! 5. How Alev's family reacts 6. Vera later in her pregnancy moves in with Alev and his brother but we don't have too many details on things past that. 7. Reaction to Vera having twins on Vera's side and Alev's side.)
There's some more ideas of: What happens when the school finds out that Vera is visibly pregnant and unmarried (Will she get her degree? Who will marry her now? Will she need to drop out? Will Alev marry her just so she can graduate? Do the pair like each other enough for that?) The pair are going to two small colleges which share some classes, when they end up in a classroom together will people find out about? There is LOTS of details of Vera 'falling' for someone with 'devilish charm' as well as internal struggle for desiring something so 'sinful'. Also, the idea of a super religious (most likely Catholic) based college being right next to a college with fire Genasi (probably being likened to demons) being normal is such a fun idea. Vera has no idea magic is real or that Alev is a fire Genasi until much later, she just thinks Alt people look like that.

I really need to write up Vera's storyline here. While I do love her first interaction with anything pregnancy, leading to an ovi mix up leading her to realize she really enjoys being pregnant. She'd blossom into her fixation with magical potiond providing a temporary weighted belly. But, I want want to get into the details of her first time being pregnant.
For her first real pregnancy, Vera ends up pregnant by presuming she couldn't possibly get pregnant when her partner already has some buns in their oven, but the silly therapist manages it anyways. Then going on the biggest and longest trip of her life, Vera goes months chalking up her first trimester symptoms as: any bloating as traveling sickness, her clothes not fitting as she chases new flavors and is determined to try new foods, mood swings as exhaustion from her morning sickness disguised as bouts of food poisoning and THEN she returns home. Returning home just after the middle of her pregnancy and recounting the trip to a friend the puzzle pieces come together.
After the reveal her belly just seems to swell, its obvious to everyone that she's been pregnant and must have done a stellar job keeping it secret before her bump revealed it to the town. Her closet begs her to pick up maternity clothing. Its a shock how she managed to fit into anything at all! Every symptom makes her question how she could have completely missed it. She'd been preparing for her partners pregnancy but had no idea she would be going through her own so soon. Sometimes she'd forget, until her bump hit a counter top, or until she recived a firm kick (really any movement from the twins), or getting pinned down by her own belly in her favorite soft armchair.
Her partners labor occurs a few weeks before hers, and Vera does her best to keep her own twins inside before the chaos of two newborns becomes four newborns. Denying her own labor by taking laps past the monitor over and over. Vera tells herself she's having horrible cramps, probably not even Braxton Hicks contractions though. She's just thankful the twins are no longer in her lungs. By the time she realizes she realizes she needs help she can barely speak through the contractions. Using her contractioning belly to press into her partners sleeping face she rouses them from their sleep deprived state to request a ride to the hospital. When her water breaks moments later there is shared certainty that they are not making it to a hospital are clear. One call to a midwife and her partner with very recent experience from their own labor help Vera give birth to her twins.
Of course since she missed out on the first trimester she has to get pregnant again, just to have the full experience this time.
Imagining a tourist on vacation amazed by all the unique foods they can try for the first time, making sure they have breakfast, lunch and dinner along with several snacks to try absolutely everything. Ordering full meals at least three times a day with all the sides to not miss out on a single thing!
Hitting the point every day where they feel just too full to keep going, their abdomen straining agsinst their shirt and pants button fighting to stay closed, but its a once in a lifetime experience! They certainly won't get to try it again, so they finish this meal. Then the next. Then when walking just to find something else they HAVE to try! Following their nose from place to place.
Of course they can't forget about desserts, some sweet, some savory, trying them all right before seeing an ice cream shop with flavors they've never seen before. Of course they need to test these flavors out! Maybe they'll have a new favorite to make at home.
And if their clothes get a little tight its the perfect chance to buy some clothing keepsakes, just in a size or two larger than the ones they have at home. Larger touristy shirts which should be loose but are just tight along their belly.
Just to travel to another town or city or state or country with different variations (or even the same location but trying different locations with the same foods), just to do the same thing all over again until its time to go home. Maybe learning to make some of the delicious dishes they tried, maybe planning another trip to try out new foods. All while carrying an even larger appetite with them.
